Google Panda And How It Affects Your SEO Tactics

Google penalized some extremely "heavy hitters" for "shady" linking practices. J C Penney and Forbes are probably the two that most people will recognise. I think Wikipedia best explains this best and in more detail.

Now, all savvy marketers know that quality backlinks are ultimately important in Search Engine Optimization and that "Article Marketing" is the best method of acquiring great backlinks, so what does it all mean for link builders?

SIMPLE - SAY GOODBYE TO LOW QUALITY BACKLINKING PRACTICES FOREVER!

QUICK TIP 1.

HOW TO AVOID LINKING TO A "SPAMMY" OR UNSUITABLE SITE.

My advice is to steer clear of any site which carries an overdose of advertising, lacks good quality content, has low traffic volume or carries an overindulgence of "spammy" links.

SO - this leads me to my subject.

HOW TO SEO - PROPERLY.

What I intend to achieve in this and future complimentary articles, is to supply you with a complete guide on how to utilize search engine optimization for your website by using the latest proven practices and techniques.

I want to take this slowly for those new to online marketing so my first guide deals with:

What Is Search Engine Optimization?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a method designed to improve the flow of organic visitors to a website by achieving a higher ranking within search engine result pages (SERPs). The majority of Internet users rarely search further than the first few pages of results. They perceive the top ranking websites as trustworthy authorities within their niches, so those sites tend to generate a significantly larger volume of free website visitors.

Why Use Search Engine Optimization At All?

The implementation of organic SEO techniques yields remarkable benefits if used in conjunction with the "best" practices so stay away from the "black hat" arena.

Organic techniques direct traffic to a website naturally, at no cost to the site owner and carries excellent long-term effects. Search engines crave relevancy, which is why it is so important to maintain your website with content relevant to profitable search terms. I class this as unique content. By maintaining good content you are feeding the search engines with the food they need to keep your website on top. In addition, relevant content attracts quality backlinks.

The unique content you publish serves several purposes. Besides attracting backlinks that increase your web presence, unique content will help you increase direct sales, generate leads and help you maintain a high pagerank visibility. You have probably heard it before, "content is KING", and it is true!

WORD OF WARNING:

Do not try to fool the Search Engines

Never ever employ such methods as cloaking, link farms, keyword stuffing, alt text spamming or any other dubious systems. They may work for a short time but you risk getting your site penalized or banned from search engines altogether.

Meta Tags Keywords, Descriptions and Titles - Search Engine Optimization of Your Site Content

Some website owners don't think that meta tag titles, descriptions, and keywords matter so much in their site rankings anymore. It is true that search engine algorithms are constantly changing in how they determine where your pages rank. I am of the old school of thinking, and prefer to stay with my current method of search engine optimization and meta data entry, at least for now.

Online businesses are growing at an alarming rate. Some will make it, and some will not. If you expect to create a website, add a few products or articles, and do nothing else but wait for the money to come rolling in, I fear you will be terribly disappointed.

Whether you have an online business or a physical brick and mortar store, there will always be competition. You have to market your business and product(s). Advertising your online business does not have to cost you a fortune. There are multiple ways to market your business without spending a nickel.

Before embarking on your free site promotion efforts, however, put some information under your belt about meta titles, descriptions, and keywords. Each page of your site, including your category, article, and product pages, should have at a minimum a meta title, a meta description, and meta keywords.

How you enter this data is based on the site builder you use or how you manage your site content. I use a site builder that allows the data to be entered on the fly as I enter categories and products.

The meta title does not need to be lengthy. It is simply a short title that will appear on the browser tab, or at least it will in the Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers. If I were creating a meta title for this article, I would make it something like "How to Use Meta Keywords, Descriptions, and Titles." Typically, the title should indicate what the specific page is about content wise.

You also need to enter site relevant meta keywords. If you are entering a category for various products to fall under, enter keywords relevant to that particular category. The keywords used here are going to be broader in scope than those used in the product pages you create to go under these categories.

When you next add the individual products to the category, it is advisable to "drill down" into more specific keywords. When choosing them, select words you want to rank for in the search engines. Think of words shoppers might type in to find the product(s) you are selling.

There is no reason to enter a lengthy list of keywords. The search engines stop spidering the meta keyword data at around 100 characters, so choose the most prominent words to use and that is all you need to enter.

The meta description is what will appear in most search engines when your page comes up in the results. You want to enter data here that will entice the surfer to click on through to your page, so take enough time to write an eye-catching description.

There is one common mistake many web creators make. All of their pages, including category, product, and information pages, etc. all have the same meta tag information. That is the incorrect way to structure your descriptions, titles, and keywords. Consider the "meat" or content of the website itself. Is every page about the same thing? Probably not. When you start the creation of your website, have a plan; maybe even draw it out on paper. Determine what each specific area of the site is about, and structure the content accordingly.

Next, put yourself in the shoes of a shopper, and think of what might make your site information appealing enough to make them want to click through, visit your site, and make a purchase.

Your keywords should appear in your page content as well, but do not get carried away with this step. For example, do not type in your keyword 20 or 30 times on the page to help you rank for the word. This most often backfires and creates an adverse effect. Search engines are smarter than that, and this strategy will ultimately hurt your site more than it will help it.

Search engines favor high quality content that makes sense and is readable. The keyword quantity in your content should be of a certain percentage, roughly about 2-4% of your overall content, but avoid excessive keyword entry. It is best to write about your products and category information in a very natural way, not focusing on interjecting your keywords repeatedly.

Social Bookmarking SEO - Does It Really Have Benefit?

Does Social Bookmarking for SEO serve any real purpose?

If you've been in the SEO game for any amount of time than you know all about dofollow vs. nofollow. High PR links vs. crappy links and the list goes on. Visit any internet marketing forum and you'll be greeted by a deluge of comments from everyone claiming to know this or that about one such thing or another and how much more they know about that than another person does! (You might have to read that twice haha!).

One of the most common arguments I've read lately is the value of social bookmarks and how they don't carry any weight in the search engines. Many are nofollow etc... I'm not here to debate the nofollow vs dofollow argument. I still believe that a link is a link and it's not going to look very natural to any search engine if your linking profile consists solely of 200 backlinks from high PR splogs. I've tried to do that and honestly it just doesn't work.

What does work however is if you have a nice diversity of links, INCLUDING nofollow links.

Time and time again Google has proved to me that if i spend the time to grab some supposedly "crappy" links to go along with my hard earned high-pr blog posts and such that then I will really see the ranking increase and stability that I'm looking for.

What is one of the easiest ways to build up some link diversity and nofollow links?

Social Bookmarking!

With the plethora of services available right now it's simply too easy and too cheap not to have a good batch of social bookmarking links pointed at the pages you're trying to rank for. What is the easiest way to do this? Well you can always go and signup for a bunch of social bookmarking accounts yourself and submit your own links. However this is not a very effective method as you're only getting your links into one account.

The best services available are the ones that allow you to submit your bookmarks to the server and then hundreds of other members take you bookmarks and add them to their accounts. Giving the appearance that there are lots of users across the internet who are interested in your site. If it doesn't give you a direct boost in the SERPs there can be no doubt that Google will take more notice of sites using this method.

There are lots of paid services out there that will do this for you and if you click the link at the end of this article in my signature I will show you one of the best services I've found that is absolutely free to get started. And I mean free as in, no monthly fee's, and no startup costs (save for a little time to signup etc...). Check it out and I guarantee if you're searching for social bookmarking links you won't be disappointed!

Cheers,

Rob

SEO Tips to Improve Your Rankings

I would like to share with you a few tips to make your site SEO friendly and to score better with no minimum SEO skills on your end. Positioning on search engines can rely exclusively but not wholly to a few critical factors known as onsite (internal SEO) and offsite (external SEO). Internal SEO can be all the content your website contains from navigation building, text, images, layout, structure and more) Below are a few factors that can help your site to score better with no minimum SEO skills on your end.

Keyword selection and research

Take all the time available to research for all your keywords and phrases to use for your SEO campaign; keywords that best describes your area of business, products/services you are trying to promote.

Amount of text per page

Search Engines love pages with a broad content. A website with a long text content and information is in a good chance to get a better ranking than a competitor website with poor content. It is best advised that you can increase your content and text up to 2000 words per page. Write as much as you can about your business, services and use at least 3-4 times the keywords that you are targeting.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is a combination of the number of times a keyword or a phrase appears on your page. The more times the keyword is repeated on your page, the more will its density will be. In a 100 word content, a keyword that repeats 6 times counts 6% in density. The less the density is means that search engine will ignore the term in a search on the particular keyword or phrase. It is best advised to keep your keyword density between 5-7%. Anything over can flag as spam, best known as keyword stuffing

Title and "Alt" Tags in images

When it comes to images used in your website, search engines do not have the ability to read images so it is very important to keep a clear and descriptive title on all your images used in your website, typically in a one sentence of 20-30 characters if possible.

Use text for navigation

As i previously said, search engines do not have the ability to read image content to your website. If your navigation menu consists of images for any reason, search engines will not be able to index the text used on images and it's links. It is best advised to build your navigation with text links instead of pictures.

Use a Breadcrumb Trail (Internal Navigation) for every page created

Breadcrumb Trail is a navigation aid that gives users a way to keep track of their location within a website. Using Breadcrumb trails on all pages is a clearcut, standardized way of backtracking from any page, back to the homepage or reversed. You follow the breadcrumb trail back home, so to speak. This is a great way of "explaining" your site structure to Google and other search engines. A breadcrumb Trail helps to keep your website well organized and structured to search engines

Choose a keyword rich domain to use for your website

Choosing a keyword rich domain related to your targeted keywords can be another significant and important tip to achieve better rankings on search engines. Search engines tend to trigger keywords used in your metatags (keywords, description, title) but also in your domain used for your website as well. Go and search for a term or keyword in Google or any other search engine and you will notice that some of your results are triggered exclusively on their domains used rather than their description and titles instead.

Header Tags

Header tags are heading tags in HTML that search engines pay critical attention to them. There are 6 predifined headings, ranging from to which tells a visitor and search engines the topic of the web page. It is best advised that you highlight your main titles and assign a header tag on each giving priority to your main title where H1 and H2 are the strongest and most significant header tags to use in SEO. It is also recommended that you use keywords in your headings for maximum visibility and exposure of your primary targeted keywords.

Avoid Hidden Text

Hidden text is when a text has a similar color to your background color and in result it is invisible to humans to see but visible to search spiders to read. Due to an increase use of hidden text by spammers to increase and boost their keyword triggers on a search, all major engines changed their policy when it comes to hidden text crawls. Consequently, the use of hidden text may result in banning your site from any search engine and should be avoided.

Link Bait - Alive, Beguiling and Gratifying

What is link bait?

'Link bait' is the term invented by Nick Wilson in 2005 for techniques specifically designed to attract natural links to a webpage for search engine optimization (SEO). It includes a spectrum of possibilities including a complete article on a webpage, a list within an article, an image, a comment on a blog, a video, a quiz, a free program or an EBook. If you surf the net, you will have doubtless noticed the beguiling temptations that come your way clearly designed to encourage a link from you. Good bait has the potential to go viral as your masterpiece proliferates around the internet.

It has been argued that baiting strategies were in existence before it was given a name. Certainly, optimizers were aware that good quality content could attract links. In retrospect, the term was introduced at an opportune time. The importance of links was well known but optimisers were beginning to question the value of the once popular reciprocal linking and links that were not natural.

Link bait is unique and interesting content that other sites will naturally want to link to. The great bonus is that you do not have to ask or beg for the links but just set the bait and let it do its work.

Why is link bait important?

Off-page optimization (linking from other websites) has a greater influence on positioning on search engine results pages (SERPs) than the content of a webpage (on-page optimization). The search engines are judged by their ability to provide quality links for a search. Websites accumulating links from other websites voluntarily will be considered to have authority and their pages will move up the SERPs. Link baiting is an ethical means to lure those incoming links.

Why should webmasters or bloggers place a link to your website?

They do it for their benefit and not yours. The link will send their visitors and their link juice from their website to yours. The benefit for them is that if they have good outgoing links that are regularly updated, it will act as link bait for their website.

How to create effective link bait.

A great title that is keyword rich is the starting point for link bait. Deliver what you advertise in the title. There is a good chance that the title will be included in the anchor text within the acquired link adding to its benefit.

The five classic link baiting hooks are:

1. News - be the first to publish interesting news.

2. Controversy.

3. Attacks - this needs extreme care. There is a fine line between the acceptable and the unacceptable.

4. Resource -such as a video, complimentary EBook or quiz.

5. Humour - we all like a good laugh.

Link bait is not easy to produce and it takes considerable time and effort. You may spend more time producing a little link bait than on an entire article but the rewards are potentially greater. The bait must be recognized to be unique in your niche if it is to be effective so that it is challenging and great fun to produce. Content that informs, inspires, educates or entertains has the best chance of attracting those coveted links. It must have value for the targeted audience.

Link bait needs to hook readers instantly, and that means finding a format that grabs their attention. Formatting, such as the inclusion of technical terms, will depend on the targeted audience. Lists and guides are always good options because knowledge is highly sought after, but other factors such as humour, controversy or contradiction of widely held opinions will also help to give your content a vital edge.

Think about your niche and provide quality information in a succinct way. If you have a good article, consider creating a numbered list of bullet points at the top of the article. Numbered lists make great link bait. The title of the list may be picked up by the search engines, particularly if it can be included in the page title or Meta Description tag. Searchers are looking for a list of solutions to a problem. You can expand on the list in the subsequent text.

If you have expertise in your niche you may find a list of ways you assisted a client that could interest others. Success is likely if you can ignite emotion, whether it be astonishment or laughter. Get people fired up about something and the ball will start rolling.

A great deal of SEO is trial and error. What works in one situation may not be effective in another. It may have worked last year but not this year.

There is a difference between viral marketing and link bait. The objective of the former is exposure and branding whereas for link baiting it is links!

Link baiting has officially been with us for six years and will become more popular. The search engines are producing increasingly sophisticated means to find, eliminate and on occasion penalize unnatural links. Google's Panda update, introduced in 2011, is one example.

Some have argued that link bait is bad for the Web claiming that it lowers quality, increases web volume and makes it more difficult to find useful information and that it is getting near completion of its life-cycle. The author takes the view that great effort is essential so that it enhances the web and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Finally, creating great link bait that brings in those precious links is incredibly gratifying.

How To Increase Traffic To Your Blog: SEO Tips

Hundred of sites and blogs are created daily but thousands of them are lost in the crowd. It is to hard to sustain such tough times for new bloggers and site creators. Invariably content, and I mean quality content, makes one site popular among its readers. But there are a few simple tips that every SEO professional would implement to a site to increase its visibility to search engines, attract more visitors and help building quality websites.

  1. Host your blog with a blog software (CMS) like WordPress, Blogger, MovableType or Typepad. They can serve a variety of blogs and websites and are highly customizable. They are complete with comment system, archiving, sub-page, category, user registration system, feeds and much more. They will reduce a lot of headache.

  2. Give your post a descriptive title. Use your primary keywords in it. Short and catchy titles can be imperative. Create post URL corresponding to post title and keywords. These are search-engine friendly.

  3. Engage yourself in blogosphere. Participate in conversations in related forums and blogs. Share posts on social networks and sharing sites like Twitter, Facebook, Digg, StumbleUpon, technorati, del.icio.us, reddit etc. Do not shoot your post here like spams. Also not every post need to be submitted. Engage yourself in meaningful conversations within these social spheres, help users and build a user base for your site. These networks can help you to reach thousands of mouths in no time.

  4. Track your website traffic. I use Google Analytics for tracking my sites. Watch carefully which posts are more popular among visitors and use these on social networks. Create a list of your top popular posts and show it in sidebar. This helps engage readers. Watch closely for high traffic days and write 2-4 posts during them. This is very effective to impress new readers.

  5. Create a RSS feed of your blog for easy sharing of content by users and sites. You can use x for this purpose. Create a section in your blog where users can subscribe to your blog for updates. Whenever you create a new post, FeedBurner will ping it so that search engines and aggregrators know of the new updates.

  6. Create a sitemap of your blog and submit it to Google and yahoo webmaster so that the spiders can crawl your blog regularly.

  7. Leave comments on other related blogs and invite bloggers to write guest post at your blog. This step is quite a bit hard for new bloggers. To effectively attract bloggers to write at yours share tips or posts at their blogs.

  8. Exchange link with related blogs. This can help increase your pagerank (PR) in Google. Before you exchange link find the PR of the corresponding site using online tools. A PR of 3 and above is very helpful for a new blog. Beware linking to low PR sites or duplicate content sites can be penalised by Google.

  9. Add meta tags - keywords and description to header section of site pages. Use your primary keywords pertaining to the page or post. A description of 150 to 200 words should be added. These can help search engines to index your site properly and place you in searches for your keywords.

  10. Until your blog is a grand success restrain yourself from displaying any form of advertisements.

  11. Initially keep your post comments off until you develop a good regular user base. And then you can open comments site-wide.

These are few of the tips that every blogger needs to follow. One can't succeed at blogging in one night. It is a slow and incremental process. If you think that you are busy at creating content for your site and can't devote to SEO of your blog or site you can always opt for SEO specialists. These industry experts can earn high PR for your site by one way link exchanges, guest posts, advertising, place you in search engines for your choice of keywords, effectively index your site in search engines faster then an individual can. They would also check your site for standard compliant code and make any required changes. Since they are into the business, they can distribute your content to a larger base in social networks, press releases, aggregators and bookmarking sites.

Organic Search Engine Optimization

It is obvious that the objective of search engine marketing is to fetch organic traffic to your site. Owing to the rising competition in the internet marketing industry today, every company looks to be babbling about search engine optimization, its benefits and many other things, which need to be executed in a site to make it SEO friendly. It is assumed that there are a couple of reasons that one does an online marketing query; either they are searching for a free source of information, in that case, the click to your website will usually not figure sales, or they are seeking a particular way out to a difficulty, in this case, if your website is on top SERP, you are expected to convert a click to returns.

The organic search engine optimization offers those who would like to place their promotions with the likelihood of being prior to the competitors on the search engine result pages devoid of disbursing extra dollars. There are internet marketing firms who have formulated techniques by means of organic marketing strategies that are very efficient to generate more traffic as compared to PPC. It just goes to reveal that if you have the appropriate ads and the accurate approaches backing it, outlay should not be that high to be positioned on top ranks and ultimately makes ample traffic to raise sales.

In my production, I stress that SEO must follow search engine guideline, which are fundamentally created by Google. White hat SEO is a technique that works within the search engine rules with the aim to grab a first page placement for a Google SERP. This engrosses a high level of uphill struggle, planned preparation and implementation and a constant observation of results.

On-page optimization techniques are simple and easy. There are needs for your page title, descriptions, keywords, headings and other Meta tags that, while followed with accuracy, will increase you an optimization count of 95% or more. On-page optimization is the appliance of guidelines so that the function appears organically to the Google robots as they crawl your website.

Off-page optimization, conversely, is an art of perfectly pursuing all the rules. Key to off-page optimization is the capability to have one-way backlinks to your website from another quality website, if possible one associated to the theme of your Web Pages but not utterly essential. There is any number of techniques to grab backlinks to your website:

• Article marketing.
• Social networking.
• Blog commenting.
• Contributing to forum discussions.
• Email marketing.

And much, much more...!

In this list, I stated my preferred, and I believe most successful off-page optimization strategies that, while used proficiently, will perk up the position of your website on any of the search engines including Google and Yahoo.

Organic search engine optimization has more advantageous than you may have ever thought as many of us have this conviction that paid things work superior than free ones. Organic SEO just necessitates the execution of focused strategies to emerge on the front position of search engine result pages.

SEO - How to Promote Your Website

Do you think it is feasible to endorse your company by employing the use of online methods of communication? Is this particular marketing method proficient and professional? What aspects are required to be taken into contemplation if you apply these methodologies in the advertising of your firm? These are all queries that most advertisers and marketers have dealt with themselves until the recent past, as online marketing ways and social networking have achieved more and more territory as general popularity.

The socio-demographic attributes of the potential buyers and other target groups like their age, the amount of exposure they get, location, climate and other background details must be researched with the utmost care before you start to create any sort of marketing campaign. Detailed study on the scope of your product on specific target groups is also advised. Therefore set your aims in a catchy way to set up the best promotional model and to attain the preferred results.

Just as in established methods of marketing, online promotions are based on one fact; being seen or in other words, visibility. Therefore enhancing the Search Optimization Engine aka SEO of the site is a must. This presumes the recognition of the likely keywords from your website that may grade your online store superior among other search engine outcomes. The top campaigns are warranted by the most eminent search engines, but there are also free web information banks for those that do not require too much publicity.

Text and video links ensure to raise the amount of browsers on the website, but you should pick features and images that are connected to your business profile. This will give you an edge over the rest of them. SEO's can also link other pages and help publicity of other pages related to yours which will lead to more web traffic.

The most esteemed means of online marketing and commercials are, on the other hand, the placards and the pop-up windows. These are novel inputs that entice more browsers and customers by their ingenuity and uniqueness as the web makers administer to design eye-hitting structures that drift from one side of the window screen to the opposite. This determines the number of viewers that click on the site. If you need your online promotion to be a real hit, you must join as many skills as possible and confirm that you accomplish your targeted audience. Do not overlook the influence of the Internet in product endorsement because this is a mandatory instrument in today's world for budding entrepreneurs who want to take their trade to a higher level.

Why Is Effective SEO Website Optimization So Difficult?

There are many ways business owners and marketers can effectively optimize their website's search engine rankings in today's highly competitive online world. But the truth is that the vast wealth of possibilities does not make it any simpler to see natural SEO traffic results to a new comer or a company attempting to do this work on their own.

Gaining organic rankings is something that every company can find valuable, no matter the market or niche they are in. When you can maintain credible first page and #1 spots on highly competitive and converting keywords, you have a clear advantage against your competition. While others are forced to pay per click via ads, you're able to get better traffic, leads, and sales under the same keywords at absolutely no cost. This is the reason SEO companies have been growing rapidly as the need for professional search engine marketing continues to rise.

But what is it that makes effective SEO website optimization so difficult? Why do we see time and time again businesses fail to receive any rankings at all, let alone maintain them under competitive search terms? Let's take a look.

1. Competition Is Fierce

The most obvious reason that SEO ranking is difficult to achieve is because of the high level of competition all businesses face in today's world. Everyone is competing for the same sales within a market and the more companies out there, the harder it is to stand out from the rest.

2. Lack Of Experience

Proper search engine optimization is even time staking and difficult when performed by true SEO experts and typically takes 2-4 months even when done by the most seasoned professionals. This begins to make it clear why SEO company services are so highly sought after.

3. Poor Keyword Selection

One of the most critical mistakes made by business owners trying to do natural SEO on their own is the actual keywords they attempt to go after and rank highly for. It is a huge mistake for companies to go right away for the more broad and highly searched terms within their niche. The competition is too high and on top of that some of the keywords do not even lead directly to conversions. Go after more specific longer tail keywords or product name brands in the beginning to see faster results.

For the most part, SEO website optimization is a highly difficult skill to master, but at the same time is absolutely vital to the long term success of any business. Be sure to do some of your own SEO marketing and contact an SEO consultant to see what sort of options are available to you on your current budgeting.

Keyword Competition Analysis And Why Some Keywords Ranked Better Than The Others

Keywords are a huge part of any online business content plan. And if you have an online business, then you know that content is king. Always has been, always will be. So how do you deliver content that people want to read while still targeting the right keywords in the most effective manner? And how do you know what the right keywords are? The answers to these questions can lead to a successful career online, but only if you know how to utilize them to your advantage. As you prepare your content for web delivery, make sure that you pay more than close attention to the keyword details. Some articles do better than others because they know how often to use the words they have chosen, and how to format their articles for success with the search engines.

The first thing that you need to do as you start your online engine is select keywords that are popular but not as competitive. There is so much competition for what people call "the million dollar words" that a lot of quality keyword entries that are searched thousands of times per month go ignored by online content providers. It is up to you to research your field thoroughly and to find the best use possible of the words in question. Once you have selected your keywords and long tails, then you need to think about how they will appear in the body of your content.

With a well structured article, you should be able to work these keyword usages in to a proper ratio of approximately one use per 75 to 100 words. After you have ensured that all the keywords selected are presented in an adequate manner, the next move that you should make is to proof your article for any unnecessary repetitions. Too often, article writers are guilty of the dreaded stuffing practice in which content becomes about how many times they can fit a word usage in rather than how useful the information itself is to the reader.

Proofreading your article is perhaps the best way to ensure that you do not get ignored by the major search engines. Some practices of stuffing can even qualify you for a blacklist, in which all the major engines will collectively ignore your content. When this happens, it becomes impossible to generate organic traffic that you need to survive. Whatever you do, don't be like those sites that fail every day.

Engage in proper keyword competition analysis, and you will always remain separate and apart from the sites that fail. While online content is often free, it can be very valuable in the right hands. Present value above all else and you will always succeed.

Google +1 Button And How It Influences Your Website

Google has long been the major player in search engine marketing, and that is not going to change any time soon, even though you now live in the age of Web 2.0. Web 2.0 is another name for social networking, and many sites have found success in using it: Twitter, Facebook, Digg. The difference in the old ways and the new ways is that it is easier than ever before to promote content you love with one click and help it to the top of the search engines. There is more exposure for content providers than ever before, and that makes it easier to have something "go viral." What does any of this have to do with Google +1? Plenty.

Google has long been unchallenged when it comes to search engine marketing. Each day practically everyone, who logs on to the Internet, makes Google a destination for quick searches on topics of interest. Part of what makes content rise to the top is how well it has been promoted by other users on the Web 2.0 platform. Now that Google has moved in to this area with its +1 program, the likelihood of it bearing more weight in searches than other content that hasn't been promoted with the easy to use one click option is eminent.

So what should you be doing if you are hoping to get your content seen by more individuals? The answer is simple. Use Google +1 to promote what you have to say whenever you feel the need to say it. As Google moves in to areas of email and social networking while maintaining its near monopoly on search engine results, you have a far better chance of reaching others. One of the best things about Google+ is how easy it is to set up - practically automatic if you've ever had a Gmail account. Many people, who do not care for social networking, will use this feature in addition to those that Facebook and Tweet every day.

After you have added the one click Google+ feature to your website, you can focus more on producing quality content that will ensure the button gets used frequently and to your advantage. Its inclusion not only makes it easy for you to build your content's momentum, but it also makes your site look more professional as well.

The time to be online is now. The reason there are so many websites already out there, with millions more to come each day, is that people understand the opportunities. Leading the charge of opportunity is Google and its + platform. Ignore what this platform can do for you at your own risk, though it is suggested that you don't.

What Is Google Plus 1 and How Will It Boost Your Rankings?

Google Plus 1 has been in the experimental stages for some time now but it's finally available and in effect. Google Plus 1 is in many ways Google's answer to Facebook's "Like" feature; it's their way of keeping up with the social search direction which search engines are taking.

How it works on the search engine level is that the Google Plus 1 button appears along every web page in the Google search results ONLY when you are signed in to a Google account. You can click on the plus 1 button is added to all web pages in the search results

Additionally, you can add the Google Plus 1 button to your website so that it appears on every post and page which you create. I recommend that you go ahead and do this because you'll accumulate many more pluses this way.

Think about it, if someone sees your web page in the SERPs, they're not going to give you a plus before they read your content. And if they like your content and you don't have the plus button installed on your page, they're likely not going to click the back button on their web browser so they can give your page a plus back in the SERPs. They're going to give you the plus after reading your content, so your plus button should be visible ideally at the bottom of your post/page or at the top.

Furthermore, don't forget about all of the people who don't find your web page/post through the search engines. What if they get redirected through a link from a referring site? In this case you definitely need that Google Plus 1 button on your individual page.

There are two obvious benefits of the Google Plus 1 button. One is that it will boost your rankings (assuming you have received pluses) as Google sees this as firsthand proof that a real and actual person has given a personal thumbs up approval of your content, thus making their job in determining what web pages should rank well for keywords that much easier. Keep in mind that while this is important, it's still just another piece of their multiple piece pie which is their ranking algorithm.

Secondly is that it will boost your traffic. Social proof can motivate people to check out a web page online, and the beauty of Google Plus 1 (especially while it's still in the early stages) is that not many people are using it effectively yet, so even just a few pluses of your web page can persuade someone to check out your web page, especially next to another web page on the same content which does not have any pluses.

It's very easy to add the Google Plus 1 button to your page. You can check out Google's page on it, or if you're using WordPress then you can just use one of the many plugins for adding it to your site which is what I do. I just added this plugin/button to my site, so I don't have enough experience with the particular plugin which I'm using to recommend it to you all or not, but just do a search for "Google Plus 1" from your plugins tab and you'll find a number of free options which will make it simple to add it to your site.

Google Plus 1 can help you rank, but so can getting Facebook likes on your pages, so check out these 8 ways to get more likes right now by clicking on this link for how to get Facebook likes.

Keyword Research - Essential Factor to Have Better Web Traffic

In web developing and designing, Keyword Research is one of the most important elements as it serves as essential factor that leading your website to be success. You need to pay more attention on this part if you want your website to be best seller having a large amount of traffic from web surfers even whatever you've considered to your website that you want it to be.

Keyword is mostly single word or set of words connected together into a phrase relating something. The success of one's website is depends upon what keyword or set of keywords will be used in it, how relevance the keyword is and how effective it has been used. The keywords will instantly connect to the main purpose and idea of certain subject. Therefore, the keyword will be use about cat's website should be "cat" or to be more complex, "Domesticated Persian Cat". This second phrase is acknowledged as long tail keyword, a specific description in a simpler phrase.

Selecting correct keywords for a certain website is very important in this field as it serves as the fundamental of website designing. Choosing for what are appropriate and germane keywords to use is a vital for you to position to the highest in the omnipresent search engines in this ever challenging world of online marketplace. You need to make sure that your approach is organized enough to have a highest possible chance in doing this job.

You need to plan carefully when constructing a certain website much more if you're into marketing or commercial division. Picking up appropriate keyword to use in your topic, theme and article is a part of this procedure. You should construct your website into accordingly and fairly comportment once the right keyword has been selected. A way of ensuring that every web surfers in around the globe has a way of finding your site if they are attracted in what your website is stating about - known as Search Engine Optimization. Being in the top of search engine list is the main objective in choosing a correct keyword search.

As SEO experts and many other people mistakes, they get the wrong impression about the supply and demand about the correct keyword search.

As for Demand, a lot of search engines such as Yahoo, Google and other are measuring the number of times that a user will search for the given keywords search. They have tools that establish on the demand of your selected keywords or how many web users are directly connected into your keyword or long tail keyword. On a monthly basis, they are supplying website owners an analysis with figure (and some geographical breakdown, as website owner's inclination) presenting the number of times that certain web surfer enter the selected keyword in the search box. This will state how effective and in demand your chosen keyword is.

As for Supply, by putting your keyword in search engine box like Google, it will show the lists of sites which they think are relevant for the given keyword. It can run into million results in several cases. You'll need to enter your keyword in quotes ("") if your chosen keyword is long tail (or perhaps will be). You will see the notably lower results of returned sites - which are excellent signs of "supply" - for your keywords. Your competitions are the other websites found as the result of the search.

Therefore, you'll see in this fact that using general term word -like "cat"- as keywords is not good if you want your website to be high ranking as it showing a lot of related niche about the search keyword because it has huge amount of demand as larger as its supply. In general, the higher the demand, the higher of the presented supplies.

For example, if your keyword is "Domesticated Persian Cat", and you research it, you'll see the rational number of demand with low supply (having about 4000 searches with less than 1000 competing websites). We would probably include this accurate keyword in your promotion.

This is just a simple introduction about keyword research that should be a fundamental part of your online business strategy. You must ensure that your keyword research is correctly founded and conducted before you move on even the accurate completion of selected keyword is a completely unlike subject.

Keyword Research - How To Find The Correct Keywords For Your Website or SEO Content

Finding the correct keywords is a challenging task. The process not only gives you edge over your competitors on Internet but also decides how far you can grow in Internet Marketing over the years. Avoid the frequent errors in the whole process and know the secrets of keyword research.

Doing keyword research is a basic necessity to promote your website in the Internet as thus, generate more traffic for it. So for this, you need to understand what the definition of keyword is and what its functions are in the world of Internet. Keywords are the words which all the search engines use to look up and list out the relevant materials from the web in response to a certain query.

For example, if you type - "How To Play Baseball" in Google, it will pick up "Play Baseball" as a keyword and search all the relevant websites and rank them in an order on its result page. The websites that focus on this particular keyword and are quite popular on Internet, will be displayed on first page. So, if you choose correct keywords, assess the keyword competition and adopt a marketing strategy accordingly, your website may appear on the first page of Google for those keywords.

Keywords play the same kind of role from both the reader as well as the content owner's point of view. If the reader types in the correct words as precise way as possible, he would get a more meaningful and refined search results. Likewise, if the content writer puts in the correct keywords in his article, words which should usually come to a viewer's mind while querying for that certain topic, then his content is sure to rank high up in the results list when such a query is done.

However, many people do not understand how to identify the correct keywords and incorporate them effectively in their articles for maximum benefits. This is where the concept of search engine optimization (SEO) comes in. An article or any type of web content is optimized for showing up in a high position in the search engine results. This is done by optimizing it by the incorporation of the right keywords, using the correct number of times. There are certain tools like "wordtracker" and software to do so. Also, there are several SEO companies who provide various types of services, all directed towards making your website and their articles SEO optimized for better ranking in the search results.

Google has come up with a very good keyword research tool to facilitate the webmasters. With this tool you can assess the keyword popularity, competition and traffic in a particular geography.

How to Choose Your Keywords

Either you are doing affiliate marketing or you have an e-commerce website, you need to find these keywords. Here are several tips that will help you in the process of finding, compiling, evaluating, and selecting your SEO keywords and key phrases, that you are going to succeed with.

What you need to do, is to choose a niche, then compile your list. This can be tricky because you know your business intimately. You might know what words best describe the product or services you promote/sell, but the chances are that you don't think the exact way as your customers. That is when keyword research comes in. Apart from asking people what keywords they would use to find several products or services, you can always use a keyword suggestion and analysis tool.

Always avoid extra spaces, hyphens, periods, apostrophes, quotation marks, and other symbols such as ($,%,^,$,%,&,$,$). Instead use synonyms and plurals in addition. This is exactly what keyword suggestion tools will let you do a lot easier : Find the most profitable keywords in your niche by 'spying on your competition".

Once you have the root keyword that best describes your product or service, then you simply use the keyword research tool that will automatically generate thousands of keyword phrases for you instantly. If you've never used such a tool, then you must try it out. Keyword research tools save you hundreds and hundreds of hours that you would spend researching on your own, they effectively let you select the most profitable keywords, they even spy on your competitor's PPC campaigns and lets you replicate their success.

Look for the long tail keywords. Usually between 3 - 10 or even more keywords in one single phrase. The reason for this is simple. The longer the key phrase the less competition on it, and what that means, is exactly what you're looking for, to rank high for some specific keywords, if it is possible to rank #1 for one single keyword phrase that has around 30 to 50 thousand monthly searches on Google alone, then you are looking at some serious customers.

As the Internet evolved people slightly changed their habits of using the search engines. You might not believe it, but there are even 10 - 20 keyword phrases with thousands and thousand of monthly search, these are usually questions such as "What is the best natural treatment for anxiety and panic attacks". This keyword phrase has 11 keywords and it has well over 5000 monthly searches.

Now that you know the basics, take a step ahead and use a keyword research tool. Keyword suggestion software such as SEO Elite and WordTracker are very helpful in finding the popularity of your keywords and phrases, and will even turn additional keywords and variations. For example, if you would be selling fat loss products and you only have the key phrase 'weight loss' on your keyword list, then you must be more specific in your description, or you might loose customers.

Lets have a quick look at what keywords are related to "weight loss" :

weight loss: Search Volume: 9,140,000

Related keyword phrases you should also consider :

fast weight loss : Search Volume: 201,000

healthy weight loss : Search Volume : 49,500

weight loss programs : Search Volume : 165,000

weight loss diet : Search Volume : 450,000

These are just a few keywords, of thousands available, that would target the exact same customers, interested to find weight loss products or information about losing weight. Using additional keyword phrases that the keyword research tool returns, will not only increase your chances of getting more potential customers but also rank higher in the search engines for some gold-mine keywords.

Which keyword suggestion tools are the most effective?

Most of them promise high-end results for your optimization strategies, however only a few of them are effective. I've tested more than 10 keyword research and analysis tools over the past two years, and I can say I'm very satisfied of Wordtracker, SEO Elite and Micro Niche Finder. Feel free to read my complete reviews of these three products below.

Overall I find Wordtracker, SEO Elite v. 4.0, and Micro Niche Finder to be the best Keyword suggestion tools [http://www.affiliate-secrets.info/affiliate-secrets/] currently out on the market.

Rank High On Google: How To Increase Google Ranking

Welcome back, I'm George Tiganus and today I will tell you some things about how to rank your website higher on the first page of Google search results. Ranking high with the search engines is what brings the traffic to your website, and if your website shows up in the first results for the keywords people are searching for, this is good for business!

Traffic means money!

So let's go ahead and briefly talk about the SEO concept. SEO is the acronym for Search Engine Optimization, and that's what gets you the high ranks on Google and other search engines. This kind of optimization depends on various aspects, and we will discuss some of them, so that you can understand what they mean and how you can make them work for you.

If I were asked which is the most important factor to improve your Google Rankings, I would definitely say BACKLINKING.

But what exactly is backlinking?

First up, think about some restless machines always scrutinizing the information on every website in existence.

This is exactly what the search engines are designed to do. They look at the content of websites and rank them by relevance of that content to the website's keywords. But there's much more than just the information you have on your website's pages. For every subject you can imagine, including the one your website is about, there could be thousands or millions of other sites.

One other sign that a website relevant to the subject it deals with is if it's referenced externally via links. Out of two sites on the same topic, the one that is referenced through more links over the internet will be considered more helpful for the users looking for info on that topic.

These are called, incoming links, inbound links or backlinks and they refer people from other sites to yours. The more quality your website has, the more backlinks you are supposed to get.

Google thinks of a link coming from some other website to your website as a vote and this is why backlinking plays a huge role on the way Google sets their rankings.

Think about Wikipedia and how they always show up within the first results for almost any search. Why do you think that is? 75,000,000 domain backlinks!!! (I know it is insane, but it's TRUE!)

So now you know the importance of backlinks, but it is more important to know HOW to get them for your own website.

There are several ways to do that and the most common are:

- reciprocal links - links between two websites to ensure mutual traffic
- forum links - using signature links on forums
- commenting on blogs - go to high ranked blogs and add a link to your comment
- links from other pages, such as video sharing websites, article directories etc.

Naturally, the more such backlinks your site has,the higher it will be ranked on search engines. But pay attention, this doesn't mean you should buy some automatic tool and just get 1000 backlinks per day. Bulding up backlinks at an unnaturally high rate or speed is suspect and Google has a very low tolerance of spam, going to such lengths as penalizing or even banning websites!

Google Page Rank Explained

Page Rank (PR) is an algorithm used by Google to compute the relative importance of a particular webpage on the internet and assign it a numeric value from 0 (least important) to 10 (most important). This value is calculated through an iterative analysis of the backlinks to the webpage. If webpage A links to webpage B then webpage B would receive 1 "vote" towards their page rank.

Fact: Page Rank is calculated on a webpage by webpage basis not on a website by website basis

The importance of the webpage casting a vote and the total number of outgoing links on the webpage casting a vote are the primary factors which determine how much "voting share " this webpage will transfer to each of the outgoing links on them. Google calculates a webpage's page rank by adding up all of the "voting shares " for that webpage through an iterative calculation.

Page Rank is one of the factors Google utilizes to help determine their Search Engine Ranking Positions (SERP's). It should be noted that this algorithm is only one part of their overall ranking scheme and not necessarily the most important one as many website's would have you believe. The general internet user has no idea about the concept of page rank and are unable to tell what a particular page's PR is unless they have the Google Toolbar installed (or use an online page rank checker). Since page rank is part of Google's search ranking algorithm an understanding of the concept is still important for any webmaster concerned with getting traffic to their site.

Fact: Not all links pointing to a webpage are counted as votes for that webpage

As soon as Google introduced the concept of page rank unsavory webmasters developed ways to manipulate the rankings. These webmasters began creating web pages with the sole purpose of increasing the amount of incoming links pointing to their website.

Common Black Hat SEO Techniques:

  • Link Farms - pages containing long lists of unrelated links set up for the sole purpose of manipulating search engine rankings and page rank
  • Doorway Pages - orphaned webpages either on the same website or distributed throughout the internet stuffed with keywords containing links to the offender's site. Used to artificially inflate the back link count for a website.
  • Free For All Links Pages - a type of link farm where, as the name implies, anyone is free to post their link. Once a valuable way to spread the word about your website, abuse through auto submissions has rendered these sites worthless and are now viewed as search engine SPAM.
  • Automated or Hosted Link Exchanges - sites that offer to provide "hundreds" of back links to your site instantly. Generally you will have to install some html code on your website to display their directory and in return anyone else who has this code installed on their website will be displaying your link. This is a case where "if it sounds too good to be true it is". The search engine's are wise to this technique and watch for unnatural "spikes" in the number of backlinks pointing to a website. In actuality it is possible to inflate your page rank with this technique but if the search engine's wise up to your practices (and they always do eventually) you risk being dropped from their index or black holed in their rankings.

How is Page Rank Calculated?

When Google introduced the concept of page rank they published the algorithm they were going to use to calculate it. The formula in it's current form is known only to the engineers at Google but it is fair to say it closely resembles the following formula.

PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + ... + PR(tn)/C(tn))

While at first glance this equation can seem daunting, in actuality the concept is not that hard to understand. Let's take a minute to break down the formula and see what conclusions can be drawn.

PR(t1)...PR(tn) - the page rank (PR) of each page from page t1 to tn. (each value of t represents 1 link to webpage A)

C(t1)...C(tn) - the number of outgoing links (C) on each page from page t1 to tn

d - damping factor

Quoting from the original Google Page Rank white paper:

The parameter d is a damping factor which can be set between 0 and 1. We usually set d to 0.85.

Knowing what these parameters mean and knowing the value of the damping factor we can simplify the formula from above:

PR(A) = 0.15 + 0.85*(A "share" of the PR of every webpage linking to page A)

The "share" each webpage passes to webpage A can be computed by dividing the Page Rank of the webpage linking to page A by the number of outgoing links on that page. Each outgoing link on that page would receive an equal voting share from the total available page rank of the page containing the outgoing link. The total available page rank each webpage has available to transfer to outgoing links is a little less than the total page rank of that page (PR of page * 0.85) which can be easily derived when the damping factor is known.Implications

Having a basic understanding of the algorithm we can now draw a few conclusions about page rank and it's implications to your website. For instance, it is very possible to have a link on web page X that has a high page rank transferring less page rank voting shares to your website than a link on web page Y with a lower page rank.

How is this possible?
Let's analyze an example:

Page X - page rank 4, outgoing links 10

Page Y - page rank 8, outgoing links 100

Page X would transfer 0.85(4/10) = 0.34 page rank voting shares to each outgoing link

Page Y would transfer 0.85(8/100) = 0.068 page rank voting shares to each outgoing link

Even though Page X has a much lower page rank value, due to the fact that the number of outgoing links on Page X is so much smaller than on Page Y it actually transfers more page rank voting shares to each outgoing link than Page Y .

Pages with no links back to them would still have a modest page rank value of 0.15 derived from the (1-d) portion of the equation. It is important to note that while this value holds true according to the equation, only Google engineers are privy to the knowledge of whether actual page rank voting share is transferred in this scenario. Google could easily say that pages with no incoming links transfer a page rank voting share of 0 with a click of a mouse and no one would know for sure except them.

Fact: The Google Toolbar displays Page Rank as a base 10 log scale that is not the "actual" result of the Page Rank calculation

The average page rank of all pages in the index is 1. It is possible to have an "actual" page rank value in the millions or much smaller than 1 using the page rank formula but the Google toolbar only displays integers from 0 - 10 on it's pr meter. Only Google knows how the scale is split up and where the basepoints for each level are. For example, it may take an actual page rank of 10,000 using the formula above to achieve a page rank of 4/10 on the toolbar scale.

Page Rank in Complex Networks

The example above does not actually duplicate a real world example since it is only computing the page rank "voting share" of the ffa page in an idealized situation where the page rank of the page is already known. In complex networks with links in and links out of webpages the actual page rank for a webpage cannot be known due to the interdependencies each web page has on one another to calculate their page rank.

Think of it as a "chicken and the egg" situation. The problem can be solved by taking a best initial guess for the page rank value of each webpage in the network and plugging it into the page rank formula. The results of these calculations are then used to calculate the next incremental page rank values for the webpages in the network. This calculation is repeated over and over again until the page rank value approaches a limit. This limit is then the actual page rank for that page. In a complex network like the internet finding the page rank for all webpages can take millions of iterations.

It is also worth noting that when a webpage transfers page rank voting shares to another webpage the page rank of the contributing page is not reduced in any way. There is no actual page rank transfer, only a weighted "vote" is passed to the outgoing links.

Links on webpages with a high page rank and little or no other outgoing links on them but yours will provide the best opportunities to improve your page rank (if that is your goal and it shouldn't be, link for traffic not pr). Make sure to work on your site content and design before approaching other webmasters for links. The bottom line is you need to have a site worth linking to in order to get people to link to it.
