How to Recover From Over Optimization

Currently throughout the world, a huge argument is being conducted that pertains to search engine optimization. It refers to negative SEO which brings about a horrifying change globally. This latest and famous occurrence is created by Google's Penguin update. They found that several well-known websites face a horrific dilemma. They set themselves on top of Google search list just 3 months ago but however they discovered themselves moved out to the 6-10 pages seven days ago. It's a horrible jolt for those sites.
Now the question rises what is the reason behind this incident? If we deeply observe those sites we will find that they are involved with link building which is an illegal business. They spread spammed links with some other sites. They make an effort to produce awful back linking within their sites and that's why they are in the first page of Google.
Matt Cutts, a spam engineer of Google mentioned that they have tried to clear out those nasty links and supply appropriate ranking. Because there are many established websites those are really worthy of their high quality information. But irony of fate is that those are not available on the front page. So they are making an effort to improve their system for those helpful sites.
Let's discuss about over optimization. Maximum sites try to get more visitors. If they receive higher rate of visitors although their content quality and SEO ranking is poor, when Google compare them with stability sheet and they become over optimized. But a lot of sites are infected by SEO hackers and become displaced. For this reason, web engineers identify the problem and published how to prevent over optimization in their blogs. The procedure is easy but needs time and tactical steps.
The recovery systems for the sites those are facing over optimization problem are...
· Webmaster tools by Google
· Social sharing
· Search engines vs humans
· Site accessibility and structure
· Quality content
· Links
Short descriptions of those are stated below:
The quality of the content depends on the style, distribution and arrangement of the idea. It prefers the perfect idea, proper expression of it and also the better form. Like, the site must be arranged in such a way that will be not only easily understandable by the visitor but also informative. Appropriate answers must be provided for enhancing the content quality.
Link building should have legitimate function. Obtaining links from spamming sites can be hazardous. Anchor and key terms must be maintained to prevent spamming. Ensure availability of those links.
For sharing, you must use well known social media sites such as Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, Inbound.org, and Stumble Upon etc. In Facebook, only tag those people who are related to the subject, for tweet or retweet only owner circle should be used and Google+ update methods can also be helpful.
Site map is essential to get an overview idea of the site and it's also important to prevent it from being hacked. It must be built in such a way that only human beings are allowed to access it, not the robots.
Webmaster tools by Google should be used for searching necessary items for the topics.
It should be arranged in a way that would be suitable for human to find out their desired content easily. It must contain appropriate keywords for easy searching.
So as a website owner, you should be honest, must not make any spam and should give the priority for human so that they can get useful information.

The Google Over Optimization Penalty and My Google Penalty Checker Checklist

SEO is all about walking a tightrope of doing just enough but not overdoing the optimization of your site. The latter part of that statement is punishable by the Google over optimization penalty.
It got to this point because initially rudimentary search engines needed people to blatantly use tags to identify what their content was so that the search engines could organize it accordingly. Like with everything else in life, eventually enough people found a way to exploit the variety of factors which search engines used to rank a web page. Enter the Google over optimization penalty.
The reasoning for this penalty is straight forward and understandable. Google doesn't want to reward a website whose sole purpose appears to be satisfying Google before their users. Example, "my content is crap BUT I've still got tons and tons of links to my content... don't ask me how I got them".
This looks and feels fishy, and Google considers links as one of their Google ranking factors, so they don't like giving out high and visible rankings to crappy sites and only finding out after the fact that they did this, so they've tightened up on over optimization.
Google Penalty Checker
Here is my Google Penalty Checker Checklist - a list of things which can get you in trouble in terms of over optimization.
  • Don't use the exact same anchor text when creating links back to a page, vary it up a bit with variations and LSI keywords.
  • If you are creating lots of links to your site from the same IP address, this tells Google that it's one computer which is spamming, AKA this does not look natural.
  • If your website uses one or multiple unscrupulous SEO techniques to boost rankings, Google can catch on to it and punish your site. This includes cloaking, doorway pages, buying links, using spammy link building tools, keyword stuffing, and other unnatural link building techniques.
  • Building links too quickly or out of character for your site, meaning you average 5-10 new links to your site each day, then out of nowhere you pick up hundreds or thousands of links the next day.
  • Anything which doesn't look natural in terms of SEO. No matter what you're doing when involving SEO with your site, make it (or make it look) as natural possible.
Again, remember that the user comes first in your mind and the search engine second, do this and you'll remain unpenalized and will enjoy rewarding rankings in time.
Don't get left out of the loop (and page one of the SERPs). Acquaint yourself with the important Google ranking factors to learn what exactly Google is looking for to rank a web page high; then refer to this post on LSI keywords for more information on how to effectively create your content.

Will Social Bookmarking Improve Your Website Traffic?

Ever hear the phrase "A link is a link?" Wonder what it means? In short, it means any link pointing to one of your website pages is beneficial to your site. Instead of spending countless hours on search engine optimization blogs reading the latest theories on what the search engines are going to do next, why not help yourself to a few more links to your websites pages?

All links are not equal but all links are beneficial. Some links carry more weight than others. For example, a link from a PR4 or PR5 page on a website with only a few links pointing out will do your website a lot of good. But just how are you going to get that link?

You can spend hours writing huge amounts of content and just hope another webmaster finds your site and is so impressed with your excellent information that he or she will, without being asked, link to your website. What are the chances of that happening? Has it happened for you yet?

If you are like most people, you will have answered "No" to that last question. For most of us, we have to go out and get our own links. Social bookmarking is one way to accomplish that, along with article submissions, directory submissions, public service announcements, and leaving comments at blogs. All of those link building methods will increase the authority of your website, and therefore your website traffic will increase as more searchers find your website in the search engine listings.

There are quite a few social bookmarking sites with high PR, but a lot more bookmarking websites with PR 0. Do not discount low PR, but make it your goal to get as many links as you can from all bookmarking sites, regardless of page rank.

You can submit manually to social bookmarking websites, but if you are really intent on making money from websites, it is prudent to automate this process. Webmasters have several choices of automated social bookmarking software. Rather than waste your time with reviews, I will just tell you outright that the best bookmarking tool is Bookmarking Demon. This software is robust and has many features which enable submissions to get the same value as manual submissions. Read a Bookmarking Demon review by an experienced user.

PHP Link Directories: Backlinks for Website Optimization

PHP link directories are reservoirs of listed links so that you need to move in a few directory directions to find several hundreds of links, instead of moving in all directions, from one site to another with links scattered all over the net. It is a neat solution to the age-old problem of getting traffic to your site. It will do well to touch on the work these sites do as well as the use of a script and also site optimization, the crux of the matter.

A PHP link directory is a software webmasters use all over the world to organize their links, articles, and other data lists. In other words, it is a reservoir of lists and link building resources that you can tap to find good links for your site. If you get your site listed in a php link directory, you will get a lot more unique visitors to your site.

Search engines value these directories that house thousands of links under hundreds of categories, especially so, when submissions are manually checked for search engine optimization prerequisites.

You can also advertise on link directories; just research their background and find out about: how long they have been in existence, their page rank, number of unique visits, and page views per month. So bring your ads to where the traffic is!

A good link directory script enables the editor to be a gate-keeper to keep out dubious sites. This means you will get truly targeted traffic as a free directory service. Further, a directory script offers 3 money-making opportunities. If you install it on your site, it becomes a top quality money-making link directory site. Besides, it can be used as an advertising platform for banner ads, text ads, affiliate ads and Google AdWords of your products, other sites and web scripts.

Site optimization is the name of the game. If your site is properly optimized with keywords in the domain name, it gets links, If you use link-building services, especially the paid ones, you will certainly get guaranteed traffic. However why not try a free directory submission of your url and find out to what extent you can succeed using such tools?

You can get free viral one-way backlinks, Keith James Lock recommends a system in which you submit an article of which many spun versions are submitted to sites to get backlinks from them. However this many not be acceptable to reputable directories, nor to ezinearticles.com!

What Is Keyword Density And Why Is It Important?

When trying to optimize your website, you hear a lot about Keyword Density. It is a very important part of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), which is the process of getting your site a high rank on Google and similar search engines. This article will help you determine what Keyword Density is, and how you can use it to optimize your site for search engines.

Definition

Keyword Density just means what percentage of your content consists of your target keywords. So if you want someone to search Google for "dog grooming tips" to find your blog on dog grooming (for example), your main keyword would be "dog grooming tips". So if 18 out of 200 words in the main content on your website's homepage are part of the phrase "dog grooming tips", then you have a 9% keyword density.

Importance

Keywords help search engines like Google find your website based on people's searches. Continuing with the dog grooming example, when someone searches for "dog grooming tips", Google tries to find the most relevant pages. And how does it measure relevance? It is a combination of backlinks, which is a whole different ballgame (number of sites which have links to your site), and keyword matching. It uses the keywords in your main content to determine what your site is about. So if your site says "dog grooming tips" five times on the front page, Google is more likely to pick it up as a good result to show someone searching for "dog grooming tips".

What now?

Now that you understand Keyword Density, you should try to adhere to the following standard: keep it between 3% and 20%. It is important that your content contains your keyword at least a few times. If your content is 300 words (an appropriate length) and your keyword is the three-word phrase "dog grooming tips", you should mention that phrase at least 3 times and at most 20 times. But be sure to make sure your content is still readable - nobody is going to stay on your site if you just say "dog grooming tips dog grooming tips dog grooming tips" over and over! Your content needs to be readable and informative, but center around your keywords.

The Great Value Of WordPress SEO

In most situations, optimizing the official blog of your company might be as important as making your website more SEO friendly. Therefore, if you want to become more successful and obtain a better presence on the web you should start looking for solutions for a smooth search engine optimized WordPress blog, about which you will find more in the following lines.

An installation of WordPress comes ready for Google, Yahoo or Bing. The functions and features included help search engines index your blog correctly and gather the information they need to include your site in the database. WordPress also comes with several tools that help optimize sites, including the ability to add files. Also there are lots of plugins that can be used for WordPress SEO. But once you start using WordPress and edit your blog you might spoil some of those features that make WordPress friendly in terms of SEO. This is the point where you should look for the services offered by a team of professional SEO experts.

Some of the WordPress principles that should be followed in terms of website optimizaiton are as follows:

Clean code

The SEO provider should always make sure your HTML code is valid and appropriate. Errors in the code may prevent your blog from being properly indexed by search engines.

Quality of content

Search engines do not "see" your blog. Instead, they can only read certain bits of content. A nice design or plugin means nothing to search engines. What matters to them are the words, content and the material from your site that explains, shares or inform. Therefore, as part of the WordPress SEO services, you should ensure that you provide quality content for the search engines, something to be examined and compared in order to obtain the best possible position in search engines.

Content first

A search engine will often ignore the styles and the CSS part of your blog. Instead, it will just collect the content and information. Most WordPress themes are created in a way that places the content as high as possible on your styled page. Few engines actually scan more than the first third of the pages. This is one of the WordPress SEO secrets you should be aware of.

Keyword Links, Links and Titles

Finally, engines do not evaluate your site based on how beautiful it is, but instead they only evaluate words. As a consequence, you must always ensure that the necessary keywords are included in the appropriate places.

What is Organic SEO?

Organic SEO Rankings Can Increase Web Visibility by 67%

Organic SEO is the procedure of getting your website ranked high in the Search Engine 1-10 positions on Google, Yahoo, AOL, & now Bing. Each Search Engine calls for a different SEO Process, but if you Optimize your website for Google, then that is a great start.

SEO / Search Engine Optimization can be very complex and will involve many fundamentals for good rankings on the Search Engines. We have outlined a few. Each Optimization process ties into each other. One of the most important factors that we have found as an SEO company is doing the correct research on the company we take on, such as knowing their industry, competing companies, location, target market, and the correct layout of our clients website, which plays a major role in how we Optimize their website.

Once we have ran a few SEO Stress Test on our clients website then we will proceed with the research and begin to build a SEO Blue Print with a some basic steps that we have follow to obtain high Organic Rankings via the Search Engines. Below are some basics and a brief explanation of what they mean, without getting into to much SEO jargon.

Search Engines will look for these pieces of information located in the websites source coding. Since Search Engine Robots/Spiders can not read images they follow html code.

Keywords- Are what you would like your website to rank on the Search Engines when a prospect types in a word or a long-tail stream of words. Looking and adding the right keywords to your website source code calls for extensive research on your competition, GEO targeting your prospects, and what a prospect will type in. There are may elements to keyword research, it used to be a 1 to 3 keyword term was the best now studies show 3 to 6 words per keyword is the best option now. Most Searchers are starting to use Questions, Area Codes, Zip Codes, Cities, Counties, States, and then some. Selecting the right terms for your website will make or break your SEO Process.

Meta Tags- Meta elements provide information about a given Web page, most often to help search engines categorize them correctly. They are inserted into the HTML document, but are often not directly visible to a user visiting the site. Typical Meta info is Title, Keywords, & Description. Since the Search Engines do not weight results completely on Meta Tags because of the abuse from some SEO Companies, you have to add other Optimization procedures to the SEO process.

Website Content- Well looks pretty self explanatory, on the other hand it is not. Search Engines do require good and precise content that is written for the end user which is a prospect for you. Most Search Engines will ask that a web page consist of about 1000 words. Now here is the tricky part, how do you develop keyword density that is written for the Search Engines but also for the prospect. Search Engines have become smarter than most SEO Companies would like to thing. If SEO Companies had content that was not keyword stuffed or with hidden keywords on the web page then we would not have this problem. There is a formula that calls for keyword density that depends on the amount of content VS. how much value a keyword has. This means that keywords have to be used a certain amount within the content and placed in the right spots located n the web page. Not as simple as just writin content for your website.

Header Tags- The to tags are used to define HTML headings. defines the largest heading and defines the smallest heading. Header tags are the outlines of the web pages which portrays the attention of the significant information to the users. Are those areas on a web page enclosed by heading tags. example: Position Masters (heading tags vary in weight (size & density) depending on the status of the heading or sub-heading, ie, H1,2,3,4. They are part of HTML language.

Alt Tags -Text that accompanies an image. If a user has the browser set not to display images, or is using a screen reader, they will rely on this text to tell them what the image is. The text can be seen when hovering the mouse over the image, or is read out in the case of a screen reader. This is very important is you have a website that has a lot of images. Since Search Engines read text and code having Alt Tags are essential so the Search Engines can pick up what the image is and also will add to keyword density in the source code.

Above are just a VERY FEW basic steps to follow. Search Engine Algorithms are very tricky and constantly changing. We have done Organic SEO for many different types of companies and we have successfully Organically Ranked them all.

SEO / Organic SEO is an Art and a Process that we take pride in. Once we have Optimized your website the fun starts. The purpose of you have a website is so that many prospects see & use your services or buy your products. I hope that this has shed a little light on a subject many do not understand

Link Bait - Alive, Beguiling and Gratifying

What is link bait?

'Link bait' is the term invented by Nick Wilson in 2005 for techniques specifically designed to attract natural links to a webpage for search engine optimization (SEO). It includes a spectrum of possibilities including a complete article on a webpage, a list within an article, an image, a comment on a blog, a video, a quiz, a free program or an EBook. If you surf the net, you will have doubtless noticed the beguiling temptations that come your way clearly designed to encourage a link from you. Good bait has the potential to go viral as your masterpiece proliferates around the internet.

It has been argued that baiting strategies were in existence before it was given a name. Certainly, optimizers were aware that good quality content could attract links. In retrospect, the term was introduced at an opportune time. The importance of links was well known but optimisers were beginning to question the value of the once popular reciprocal linking and links that were not natural.

Link bait is unique and interesting content that other sites will naturally want to link to. The great bonus is that you do not have to ask or beg for the links but just set the bait and let it do its work.

Why is link bait important?

Off-page optimization (linking from other websites) has a greater influence on positioning on search engine results pages (SERPs) than the content of a webpage (on-page optimization). The search engines are judged by their ability to provide quality links for a search. Websites accumulating links from other websites voluntarily will be considered to have authority and their pages will move up the SERPs. Link baiting is an ethical means to lure those incoming links.

Why should webmasters or bloggers place a link to your website?

They do it for their benefit and not yours. The link will send their visitors and their link juice from their website to yours. The benefit for them is that if they have good outgoing links that are regularly updated, it will act as link bait for their website.

How to create effective link bait.

A great title that is keyword rich is the starting point for link bait. Deliver what you advertise in the title. There is a good chance that the title will be included in the anchor text within the acquired link adding to its benefit.

The five classic link baiting hooks are:

1. News - be the first to publish interesting news.

2. Controversy.

3. Attacks - this needs extreme care. There is a fine line between the acceptable and the unacceptable.

4. Resource -such as a video, complimentary EBook or quiz.

5. Humour - we all like a good laugh.

Link bait is not easy to produce and it takes considerable time and effort. You may spend more time producing a little link bait than on an entire article but the rewards are potentially greater. The bait must be recognized to be unique in your niche if it is to be effective so that it is challenging and great fun to produce. Content that informs, inspires, educates or entertains has the best chance of attracting those coveted links. It must have value for the targeted audience.

Link bait needs to hook readers instantly, and that means finding a format that grabs their attention. Formatting, such as the inclusion of technical terms, will depend on the targeted audience. Lists and guides are always good options because knowledge is highly sought after, but other factors such as humour, controversy or contradiction of widely held opinions will also help to give your content a vital edge.

Think about your niche and provide quality information in a succinct way. If you have a good article, consider creating a numbered list of bullet points at the top of the article. Numbered lists make great link bait. The title of the list may be picked up by the search engines, particularly if it can be included in the page title or Meta Description tag. Searchers are looking for a list of solutions to a problem. You can expand on the list in the subsequent text.

If you have expertise in your niche you may find a list of ways you assisted a client that could interest others. Success is likely if you can ignite emotion, whether it be astonishment or laughter. Get people fired up about something and the ball will start rolling.

A great deal of SEO is trial and error. What works in one situation may not be effective in another. It may have worked last year but not this year.

There is a difference between viral marketing and link bait. The objective of the former is exposure and branding whereas for link baiting it is links!

Link baiting has officially been with us for six years and will become more popular. The search engines are producing increasingly sophisticated means to find, eliminate and on occasion penalize unnatural links. Google's Panda update, introduced in 2011, is one example.

Some have argued that link bait is bad for the Web claiming that it lowers quality, increases web volume and makes it more difficult to find useful information and that it is getting near completion of its life-cycle. The author takes the view that great effort is essential so that it enhances the web and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Finally, creating great link bait that brings in those precious links is incredibly gratifying.

Backlink Building - Getting Excellent Results by Optimizing Your Backlinks

Anyone who wants their site to achieve a high ranking in the SERPs will have to rely on the standard backlink building process. If you are going about it the wrong way, though, all your efforts will prove fruitless. To ensure that your site receives credit for the links and that the search engines actually notice them you need to optimize them properly. The following article will provide three effective tips that will assist you in optimizing your links so you can get the best results.

When someone links to your site, you need to ensure that the link isn't in JavaScript because search engines ignore these links. Finding these links isn't easy which means you will have to check the source code of the page where your link is to find out. You need to ensure that your link appears in the right place and in the right format as well.

You also want to avoid redirect scripts, so check that your links connect directly to your site. This is because you want to make sure that people reach your site when they click on the link and not any others. Besides that, stay away from building backlinks from flash sites because Google and the other search engines don't spider these pages. If you truly want to obtain links from a flash site, then ensure that it also features an HTML page that the search engines can index and rank. It is very important that you go about link building correctly so you can better optimize your links. After all, you shouldn't spend loads of time building backlinks that are going to be useless for your SEO efforts.

Don't outsource to countries like India or Philippines merely because they charge less for backlink building work. If you compromise on quality due to the low price, you will suffer the consequences in the future. Ensuring the quality of your backlinks is critical. Your search engine rankings will suffer if you have thousands of incoming links from hate or porn sites. It's important that you have full control over the sites that are linking to you. If you really must outsource then opt for a reputable company with a good track record.

Last but not the least; don't go too fast when building backlinks. You want to systematically build your links in a natural way. Search engines frown upon fast backlinking because spammers do it that way. So if you do not want to wave any red flags, create slow and natural links. Also, try not to get into reciprocal linking because it's been frowned upon these days. If you still want to participate, then do it quietly.

The fact is, you will get much better results from your backlink building campaigns if you know how to optimize your links the right way. When you try and optimize your links according to the ways we discussed above, you'll open up more doors for traffic and get your site to rank high for your chosen keywords. Excellent Search Engine Optimization Tips For 2012

1. Use a domain name which epitomizes the keyword that you want to rank highly for, but avoid looking spammy. The best domain names are short, contain your most relevant keywords, are memorable, and easy to spell. Bing, especially places a lot of emphasis on sites that have keywords in the domain name.

2. Invest in quality, unique content. Too many affiliates try to optimize a website that uses poor quality content pasted directly from a private label article, an offer landing page, etc. Unique content is a quality signal, and well-written content is much more likely to spontaneously generate links...which means it's much easier to optimize a website with good content.

3.Create new relevant content to your site on a regular basis (preferably daily). Adding fresh content to your blog site on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis will greatly increase the size and scope of your website site over time, ensure that search engine bots return to your site on a regular basis, and build an audience.

4. Forget about cheap automated linkbuilding tools. To get your website ranking higher in the search engine results page (serp) quicker and for longer, then you need to create good quality backlinks. Quality far out-weighs quantity any day and although initially it will take time to create these high quality backlinks, but you're website will benefit more for it in the long run.

5. Follow these standard on-site optimization guidelines:

Make sure the HTML title tag of each page uses 2 or 3 keywords, is no more than 65 characters in length, and doesn't contain stop words - "and, of, is," etc.

Use HTML header tags (H1, H2, H3), short paragraphs, and lists (UL or OL) to make your written content easy for readers to scan, and be sure to use keywords in these elements (just don't stuff keywords where they don't belong).

On the main content of your page, links are the most powerful links on a page - footer and sidebar links have fairly low value. Therefore, some of your most powerful on-site links are from in-text links in your website's articles or blogs.

Use keywords in every page's file name or URL, every image file name, etc.

When you add an image to a page, be sure to use an alt tag that contains appropriate keyword(s) relevant to the surrounding content.

Link images to pages - the "anchor text" of an image link is the text you place in the alt tag.

Don't place important content in IFRAMEs, JavaScript tags, or as text inside an image.

Don't use JavaScript or CSS tricks to try and "hide" text from the user for the purposes of fooling the search engines - this is a great way to get your site penalized by Google or Bing. This does not include hiding an occasional H2 or H3 tag being hidden.

-When you name files, avoid using underscores, capital letters or spaces - these characters can lead to broken links and/or crawling issues. Instead, use a dash to separate keywords in file names (just-like-this.html).

6. Promote your website,as if you're trying to brand yourself.Create profiles on social networking sites and befriend other people who are also interested in your own niche and take the time to keep your profiles active.Participate in forums that are related to your niche, offering good impartial advice. Invest some time to create videos and upload them to your own video sharing website channels. Although YouTube is the largest and most popular, there are plenty of other video sharing websites on the internet which will help boost your branding campaign.Pay for a quality press release submission service instead of using some spam-ridden free service. These tasks are time consuming and somewhat costly, but that's why they work.

7. Focus your SEO efforts on creating great content, and then promote that content one link at a time. Use some creativity to come up with a guide, resource, online tool, etc., that your niche might find really useful. Then, once that piece of content is created, focus on promoting that content by contacting bloggers, other site owners, etc., and asking them to review your content. If the quality is high and the content is useful, it WILL get you links.

8. Site speed matters. Increasing site speed is a great way to boost search engine traffic to an existing site. Most sites can experience dramatic speed improvements by utilizing browser caching, gzip compression, file entity and expires tags. There are also some inexpensive content delivery network (CDN) options available from Amazon and Rackspace that can dramatically reduce site load time...especially if you rely upon cheap shared hosting for your website.

Finally, when you think about SEO, think about the tortoise and the hare! Whilst quick tricks may seem like the easiest option to get the search engine results you want, the reality is that slow and steady efforts will win the race. If you want your website to rank first overall for your niche term, you've got to come up with a site that's better than all the rest. Quality counts.

What Is SEO? Introduction for the Beginner

SEO is short for Search Engine Optimization. As the acronym suggests, SEO is the process of "optimizing" your websites for the use of search engines. What is a search engine? A search engine is an internet site that was made to find information on the internet. Google and Yahoo are two of the most powerful search engines operating today.

SEO will increase the traffic to a website using techniques that will make the website more search engine friendly. It will be easier for algorithms of search engines to find and identify the website as an important source of information by gauging the number of relevant key words and back links located in that website. This is the criteria a search engine uses to identify relevance.

What is key word? A key word is what you type into a search engine to tell it what you want to find. A powerful SEO technique is to find the most popular key words and purposely pepper the website content with the key word to make it easy to find.

While popular key words will drive in the most traffic to your website, you also need slightly more obscure key words that are specific and unique to your website content. If people are looking for your website, or something specific that can only be found in your website using these key words will make a search engine find you. Using more specific but relevant key words also means less competition for you when topping search results. You are targeting a specific kind of visitor, one that is particularly interested in your website content.

Another important part of SEO is making links. What is a link? A link, also called back link, is references to your website from other websites. What a link does for a website is alert search engines that your website content is important because others refer to it. But this alone will not guarantees high ranking with search engines.

You also need the fundamentals, namely good content. What is good content? Good content is relevant information the internet user is looking for. What is meant by good content is that the written material in the website is original, informative and easy to understand for the average reader. You do not want content that in inaccessible to the majority of readers because the writing style is too technical. Take the effort to make original content, not just churned out information that has been repeated many times over by other websites. Good content will encourage other websites to link your website.

Effective SEO techniques will make a lot of money for an ecommerce business. Sometimes it does not even matter what kind or quality of services or products are offered, they still get sold. Because SEO makes them easy to find by ranking these sites highest on search engines, they sell the best. Your regular consumer will not bother to look elsewhere.

Here is a summary of proven SEO technique that you can use.

1. Key words. Look for the best key word that will describe your content and the direction of your market strategy.

2. Content. Plan how you will develop content. Do not go blind writing up anything just to keep fresh. You need a binding theme. And some expertise in an information niche so your visitors have some idea of what to expect and will be back for more.

3. Key word mapping. What is keyword mapping? It is an important factor in content planning for a website. Use a spreadsheet software to map keywords used in every page.
4. Keyword phrase order. This is an extension of key word mapping. You need to match keywords to relate to page contents that a reader will be able to follow. So if a reader has some interest in something else that maybe in the website, they can easily find it.

5. Keyword buying cycle. What is this? If your website sells something, overtime you can evaluate what that buying cycle is. Evaluate your website every once in a while to find these patterns so you can tweak website content to pull in even more business.

6. Key word prominence. Return to that keyword list you had made earlier. From this list, chose the ones you want to highlight. You can only use a select number of key words when you make titles or meta description tags for each page content. So choose wisely.

These are the standard SEO techniques used to bring in website traffic. There are other technique not mentioned in this article, and there are new techniques being invented everyday. So do some internet research or learn by practice to find the best techniques that will work.

The topmost objective for SEO is very simple. SEO wants to top the highest in search results as often as it can. This will bring in website hits in an organic and unforced manner that most buyers prefer. SEO is the very opposite of pay-per-click advertisements seen cluttering the outside columns of websites. The internet has become a very competitive arena for business. More than 75% of companies are vying for your attention online. And all these companies know that getting to the top of results is the key to bringing in target consumers.

Ideally, good SEO can bring a website to rank in the top ten search results of a popular search engine like Google, Yahoo or Bing. Google holds the biggest market with something around 60% of online search use. Keep this in mind when making a SEO strategy for your website. You want Google. Your average consumer will not look further than the first page of an online search engine result. If you do not place near the top, SEO is the very opposite of pay-per-click advertisements seen in the outside columns of websites. The internet has become a very competitive arena for business. More than 75% of companies are vying for your attention online. And all these companies know that getting to the top of search engine results is the key to bringing in target consumers.

Your average consumer will not look further than the first page of an online search engine result. If you do not place near the top, your website might as well be obscure.

SEO can be done by anybody making a website. But SEO is also big business. A large company will readily spend millions to get to the top and stay on the top of search engine results. Each website page is carefully edited to maximum search engine optimization. A SEO specialist will use white-hat SEO methods. We recognize these methods as forum posts and commenting on blogs. Common article marketing is also another method.

SEO is a fast growing industry in itself. The way we find information, the way we buy and sell and do business over the internet is largely influenced by SEO. The future of SEO is secure in the internet.

What Is SEO and How Do You Do It for Free?

When I first started in Internet Marketing I saw the acronym SEO all over the place and I asked myself what is SEO. So I decided to do a search and find out what it was. I found out that SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

A search engine is where people go to find information on the internet like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. People who have websites want their content to be as close to the number one spot as possible, hence optimization. If their content is in the number one spot their is a much more likely chance that their website will be clicked on. The more clicks they get, the more traffic they get to their website and then more sales, leads or whatever their goal is from that traffic.

What I am going to teach you today are some tips for getting your article to the first page in the search engines SEO, and if you find the right keywords you can get to the first spot. All of these techniques are free to do.

1. Keywords - a keyword is the main subject of what is being searched for or what is in the mind of your customer or prospect. Use the Google keyword tool to help with this. Put a keyword in your title and once per paragraph. Find keywords that are low to medium in competition and high in global monthly searches.

2. Pictures - the search engines love pictures so put a picture in your article. It can be a picture of your or something relevant to your content.

3. Article directories - post your article to 5 or more article directories to get what is called back-links to your site. The search engine love back-links, it makes your site look important.

4. Video - make a short video and post it to you tube about your article and put the link to your article at the bottom this gets your more back-links. Put that video on You Tube. Go to a website called Tube Mogul to blast it out to hundreds of other video sites to get even more back links.

5. Put a link to another page within your site in your article. If you don't have one yet write another article that relates to your current one and link them together.

6. Put a your keyword in your first sentence and your last sentence, and bold your keyword somewhere in your article.

These are all tips that Google likes to see SEO when it crawls around looking for websites to put in rank order. There are more tips for getting to the very first spot SEO that I can teach you later.

What Is SEO - Search Engine Optimization Explained

Search engine optimization is the technique of getting higher placement in the natural search results of Google, Yahoo and MSN. The search engines that matter the most are Google with a 62% marketing share Yahoo with 20% and MSN floating around with about 10% in market share 'that means the search engine you should choose is Google cause Google obviously has the highest percentage of people are searching on the internet.

What you can see on the screen of your PC when you open Google is a display of local search results, organic search results and paid advertising results. Paid advertising has really nothing to do with the organic search results even though they are really the same. Today were just going to be talking about organic "natural" search engine results and how you get higher placement.

The goal here isn't just to get higher placement but to get more traffic to your website. By getting higher positioning for keywords that have the most value to you. You'll see over time by adding fresh content targeting specific keywords that you're trying to get traffic from.

Having higher replacement obviously is the goal if you can get into these top 5 positions you can drive a lot of traffic into your websites assuming you targeting terms that actually drive traffic.

Over time the SEO isn't as fast as overnight and quick fix over time you can expect to get a lot of traffic from the search engine results as long as you nurturing a long-term campaign or search engine optimization. If done right you'll see your traffic increase from Google and Yahoo that's the exiting part imagine one day you getting no traffic and the next day you do a search engine optimization campaign by adding keyword targeted content and doing a few other things ill mention in a minute.

Your traffic will increase naturally without having to pay virtually anything and that's only gone grow as long as you set the right landscape.

What's involved in search engine optimization?

There are 2 pieces...

Content and structure & website visibility.

Search engine visibility which is really about getting mentioned on other websites and about links going to your site. Takes time and shouldn't be done all at once.

Doing it all at once basically raises a flag to the search engines that you're trying to manipulate through search results. Done over time and getting into the right web directories such as Yahoo and open directories project can result in higher placement in the search results.

Press release is also payroll as long as you got mentioning here and hopefully some links. And also getting links from similar related websites can make a huge difference.

An example of how powerful online visibility can be from links alone is Adobe website. Adobe website comes up number 1 for the search term "click here". Which if you read in the Adobe website page you'll see that there's absolutely no reference of the search term "click here". It just doesn't exist...

So why does Adobe website show up number 1?

That's simple.

Google is powered by how many people are linking to the websites that the phrase that people use when this first exposed was "Google booming" and basically having hundreds of websites that are linking to a webpage with a keyword that you targeting and Google eventually figured it out that people were trying manipulate that rhythm and now they're coming up with more synchronizing criteria.

So Adobe is still ranked 1 because there are 100's of 1000's of websites linking to Adobe with the term click here to download Adobe apps. But click here is a link text that actually dries that powerful search engine ranking and as it looks like one billion search results and Adobe has the 1 ranking for that search term.

I'm sure that doesn't have value to their campaign but it shows you how power of links. Get enough links to your webpage and you can have high placement for just about any search term you're going after.

So let's talk about website content and structure...

There are several different things that you can do to optimize your website.

Your search engine optimization team should understand that the core fundamentals of building a website that not only has valid source code but also offers engaging content such as video imagery and so forth and directly links Google to every single page on the website almost instantly so without have to wait for Google to index your website you can actually create in terms of structure and data feeds you can actually create a list for the search engine and say please index this content that doesn't necessarily help you in terms of ranking higher for key words but it does help to get those pages indexed right
away.

The next thing that you can do here to optimize at the site level is to validate to broken links...

So run a program just to make sure that there's nothing broken on the website cause Google's crawling through we want to make sure that they don't hit any bad links otherwise they'll drop of the page and discontinue.

Striping out excessive source code from your website such as java scripts and styles and formats and using what we call table less and cascading style sheet based html code makes a huge difference in not only the low time of your webpage providing a better user experience but also makes the websites more intuitive to Google as its reading through all of the links on the website hopefully were using a static and textual based navigator rather than using images which can't be read as well by the search engines, same thing with flash.

We have to provide links that are made up of real words such as "marketing" or "promotion", again you want to have engaging content such as video cause it has people choose your result in Google search results I choose your listing they want to make sure that their on your webpage and there engaged in your content and if the bounce back Google will record that and recognize that it is not being relevant of a website and perhaps someone with the other search results.

Then there's something called page level SEO...

We don't do SEO only at the homepage, there's several different SEO vocal points that I'm going to care about at rest of website's pages. We are going to care about not being explicit to the search engines...in other words we don't just put the keyword we are targeting in the title.

We are going to put some called action and we are a put some value proposition to compel the person who finds this particular link in Google to be more relevant than the other listings that show up. We are also gone try to use descriptions on each page that include the introduction and that talk about the keyword theme other than just exploiting the page with keywords.

Heading is also an important role in what you're trying to do with your page level optimization for example there's a tag called H1 or hitting tag each heading tag on each page should be unique in other words I don't want every page on my website with H1 part of my overall heading.

Some templates online create a template with H1 that is the exact same for every page your basically telling the search engine that every page on my website has the exact same heading so using new headings on every page will help your search engine optimization person insure that that's one of the criteria that their optimizing for.

Speaking of optimizing for search terms one of the things that your SEO especially should be doing is excessive keyword research...

Understanding the strongest most powerful keywords in terms of people who are actually searching and then creating categories around those search terms and then pages around those keywords that drive the most traffic.

Let's say I have the content tracing sheet about "remodeling". I'm gone have particular client write-up content around each of these keywords "home remodeling" so I'm going to have a page marked "home remodeling" and I'm write unique content. Probably 400-500 words of content with the image.

Next thing is looking at overall website visibility...

So in website visibility what we're talking about is having mention and links from websites that make a difference. Such as the chamber of commerce and just other websites around the internet that relate in one way or another to the website that were trying to get placement for. I'm not going to get a link to homeland assistants from an auto website I'm going to get one from websites that talk about remodeling in the title.

So your internet search engine visibility specialist or link specialist or link building expert their job is to try to get you the best links from websites that have the most relevant to you.

One of the ways that we do that is simply by asking those websites that we find that could be a good place for us to get a link from to please add a link to our site.

We don't do that by creating a reciprocal links or three-way links or any kind of manipulation we simply incentivize them and we say if you're interested because your terms valuable to use well buy you a cup of coffee or send you a gift card.

The search engines don't see that as a pain for influencing links your simply going to go out to websites where it makes the most sense for you to get a link for your websites to get on.

People are busy so by thanking them you buy them coffee or something like that is a way to obviously get a very affordable like to your website from a page that has the most relevantly for you so your link building specialist should be doing this day and night until they've discovered every single link that they need to get only from and try to engage in a conversation with that person who owns the page.

If done correctly SEO will both on the content level by having structured or organized ballet content, keyword optimize web pages having really good internal linking structure for keywords that were searching for.

How to Achieve High Search Engine Rankings Through SEO

First off what is SEO? SEO stands for search engine optimization, which is the process of getting search engine traffic to your website using organic search results. The higher your site is ranked in the search results, the more free traffic the search engines will send you.

o In order to get high quality leads to your website or blog, you must have the right keyword phrases, also called long tail keywords. You want to optimize your site for these words to draw your target market in. You don't want to optimize for the search engines only.

o Make sure you design your website around your keywords. Do not make the mistake of building a beautiful website and then trying to decide what keyword phrases you should use. Once you have your keyword phrases, then you are ready to start writing copy for your site. Make sure to use your keyword phrases often throughout your copy.

o Only purchase a new domain when you have to. The longer a domain name has been around, the more the search engines are going to like you. By changing your domain name it could take weeks and often a couple of months to build your traffic back up from the organic search results. This obviously does not apply to new websites.

o Remember that search engine spiders can't read drop down menus or interpret graphics. You still want to use these, but make sure they are able to find all your pages on your site.

o Use your top keyword phrase in your title tag. What you put in as the title tag is the link between your site and the search engines. Be sure that that your title tag is relevant to the content on that page.

o It is very important for search engine optimization that other sites back link to your site. The search engines like to see that your site is popular. Just as importantly, you have to be careful of who is linking to your site. If it is a spammer it then could hurt your search engine ranking.

By following these couple of points, you should be well on your way to driving an increase in high quality leads to your site. I would tend to measure how I am doing by watching the increased sales, traffic and conversions and spend less time looking for what your ranking is for certain keywords. All of these steps taken together will go a long way in helping you with your search engine optimization and search engine ranking.

The Role Of Web Directories In Search Engine Optimization

The opinions about web directories are often divided. Some experts in Search Engine Optimization say that submitting articles in directories is irrelevant while others give it the five-thumbs up.

New or old websites can actually benefit from directory websites if there is a balance when it comes to link building strategy. If you would submit your website, you have to make sure first that it has the right quality that could benefit not just your site but your business at the same time. You should check out the domain age of the directory, the page rank, and other factors that would help you determine whether the web directory is reliable or not. It would be best if you take advantage of human-edited directories in the World Wide Web rather than the automatically generated ones. The enlisting of websites would take longer but it's definitely worth the wait.

You can increase the credibility of your company's website if it is part of the well-established and one of the most popular web directories. More so, the benefit of these directories is to increase the rank of your website in the most popular search engines. This is one of the most effective techniques in search engine optimization. If the web directory of your choice indeed has high quality, it will deliver you backlinks in immense amount which will be crawled by the search engines. The more traffic you get, the higher will be your rank. Therefore, people would consider you and your business to be dependable and that you can cater them steadfast services and products.

That is why it is vital that you always check the categories and the listings of the web directory before you submit your website. Don't let it be a part of the spam-filled directories which would decrease the integrity of your site, hence affecting your business. Search engines must cache your site through these websites and it must also be well-indexed at the same time.

There is a vast range of directory websites that you can find today and you should choose the right one depending on your target audience. For those who are targeting a smaller audience, local web directories are available for a particular area or a state. There are also some web directories that enlist websites of the same niche. Most business owners actually prefer the latter directory since it gives them traffic from their targeted audience. Thus, increasing the chances of getting more sales online.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Strategy - Navigating the Dark Waters of Website Promotion

Creating a well-designed website is the first step in your internet marketing strategy
that must be backed up with techniques designed to drive traffic to the website for
successful, long-term results. You wouldn't consider opening a retail store in a
major shopping mall without signage and you shouldn't consider having a nice
looking website designed without expanding your web presence in order to be
found on the internet. The following strategy overview is designed to bring about
these results:

  • An attractive website that is complementary to your company image and provides your targeted audience with information about you, your company and your products and/or services
  • A website that creates a call-to-action in the form of purchase, contact, subscription or other commitment from your viewer
  • Create a successful marketing arm for your overall business promotion and marketing campaign to promote your business, products and/or services
  • Become competitive in your industry and marketplace by meeting or exceeding the industry marketing standards and attracting a qualified audience for your products and/or services via the internet
  • Generate and maintain or grow internet traffic to your website resulting in a conversion of traffic into sales of your products and/or services

This search engine optimization (SEO) strategy is composed of several processes in
three stages.

Tier I

Website design is the foundation and beginning of a successful internet marketing
strategy. It is true that several websites exist on the internet that are unattractive
but seem to work. If there are aspects of these websites that work, imagine how well
they could do if they simply followed basic design implementation tactics that
resulted in a good image as well as simply pushed information out to the viewer.
These basics are essential for Tier 1 success:

  • Good web design that complements the company image and offline marketing campaign products
  • Easy, logical navigation that leads the viewer deeper and deeper into the web of information provided by the website
  • Attractive but quick-loading graphics that are pleasing to the eye and meaningful to the website.
    • Keyword usage that is search engine-friendly:
    • Utilization
    • Placement
    • Frequency
    • Relevance

  • Coding that is lean, clean and without errors

  • Relevance of content to the theme of the site

  • Changing content that changes frequently

  • Content is king -- it's all about content, content, content

Tier II

Once the website has been created and published, many new website owners think
that the project is finished. But in reality, the real work is just beginning. In order to
create a money-making site, traffic must be generated and driven to the website.
There are several effective methods that can be implemented in Tier II for this to
occur. While all methods may not be required to see successful traffic generation,
some combination of most if not all will probably be needed to create traffic,
maintain traffic and finally, grow traffic to our website with long-term results.
Consider implementing these strategies:

  • Dynamic content is necessary and by updating the website frequently the search engines see your website as active, not stagnant. How often should changes be made? At the very least, monthly. But the more frequent the changes, the better. There are some tried and true methods you may want to employ:
    • Monthly newsletter (or weekly)
    • Tip of the day that rotates to the page using a script from an existing database of information at your site
    • RSS feed to public news feeds that update hourly or daily at the least
    • Changes to contact information, staffing, clients, etc.
    • Checking the links frequently to make sure that they are active and valid
    • Simple modification of content from time to time should be done in between these regular maintenance tasks which will update the website

  • Good links management results in a positive weight given by the search engines
for search positioning. The algorithms used for weighting one page over another
require link popularity assessment for successful traffic to your website. Link
popularity is also one of the main contributions to Google and Alexa Page Rank.
How do you achieve link popularity? It can be tedious and requires careful attention
to the selection of the links, but there are several means that can be employed:
    • Reciprocal Links - Search for relevant and desired web pages with which to trade links
    • Purchase Page Rank-based links to boost your relevance and weight in the eyes of search engines
    • List with directories, paid or unpaid that will give your website additional exposure
    • Create the links with link text in mind, designed to utilize relevant keywords
    • Link only with websites that have decent PageRank (PR); i.e., PR of 3 at a minimum, PR of 4 would be the ideal minimum
    • Blogs - web logs linked to your site or posting to popular blogs with your links included to point traffic back to your site; a good strategy is to employ pinging with the blog posting

  • Forums -- forum participation that allows you to leave your link with the intent
of attracting traffic back to your site

  • Listing with the few free search engines and directories is essential although
you won't see any results for months

  • Develop an email list subscription function on your site with the intent of
sending e-newsletters and announcements on a regular basis. This subscription list
can be used for several other campaigns, including the sale of advertising space on
    your newsletter.

  • Purchase sponsorship on other email lists where you can promote your product
and/or services as well as get your website promoted in the process.

  • Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaigns with Google and Yahoo Search Marketing where
you purchase advertising space for keywords that are popular for your industry if
you are not in a saturated market. If your business operates in a saturated internet
market, seek niche keywords for your PPC advertising. Determine your budget first
and from there, you will know how much you can afford for the positioning your
    desire. It's all mathematical:
    • Price Per Click = monthly budget/number of clicks or
    • Number of clicks = monthly budget/price per click

Some combination of price and number of clicks will result from a well-designed
and constantly monitored campaign. The important result to watch is the conversion
rate. How many paid clicks convert into the desired result; i.e., new contract, sale of
product, sign up for e-newsletter, etc.

Tier III

Finally, after the hard-core efforts that are directly related to generating traffic to
your website, you will want to create follow-on, additional traffic that is under your
control. Several methods exist for this strategy:

  • Taking the large list of ancillary keywords that relate directly or indirectly to your website, begin purchasing keyword related domain names that will be used to create traffic driving websites that point to your money site.
  • Setup satellite pages using the keyword domain names that are heavily populated and geared toward keyword designed to develop niche market traffic. As you develop niche markets that create new customers, you are going to be able to capitalize on those customers for the other products and/or services that your company offers by focusing on information sites that link back to your money site while informing and attracting these new customers.
  • Create links, backlinks and cross-links between the satellite pages and your money site, improving your link popularity for all websites, especially your money site.
  • Display articles or e-books related to your industry and place these articles on your websites being aware of the best location based on keyword dominance.
  • For long-term, viral marketing results, create articles or e-books that you will either sell on your website or offer to public domain websites where your link information must be retained for use by anyone else on the internet.

Monitoring

In order to determine if the SEO efforts are successful, you must monitor results of
backlinks, PR and web trend statistics. There are many sources for generating this
data as well as programs that will assist in these analyses. Whatever method you
choose, whether it is using specific programs or setting up a spreadsheet for entry
of data, be consistent in tracking the data. There will be fluctuations from day-to-
day. You are looking for general, overall upward trends. Upward progress followed
by maintenance of a strong position with slow, steady growth would indicate a
successful SEO campaign.

How To Decide Which Keywords To Use On Your Website

Deciding what keywords you should fight to rank for is probably one of the most difficult, if not the hardest, parts of search engine optimization. It is not at all difficult to rank number one for some keywords in Google. If you happen to have a website, you are probably ranking number one for many phrases. The only problem is those are probably the phrases that nobody is searching for, or you do not want to rank for in the first place.

To come up with the right answer, you will probably start with some keyword research tool and read everything you can find online that even remotely involves the word 'SEO'.

Still, you could make a somewhat different approach and ask yourself first - what is the point of your website and what do you want your visitors to do once they get there. There are many different types of websites out there and figuring out where yours belongs will greatly help you when deciding what keywords to choose.

For this purpose, it will suffice to divide all websites that exist into three categories: hubs, authority sites and niche websites.

Websites considered as hubs are top authorities and they are main resources in a particular industry. It contains almost anything that you could possibly need to know and more on a certain topic. People use hub websites as their ultimate resource, where they will find out what steps to take next. One typical gaming hub website is gamespot dot com. It provides loads of useful information and resources on everything gaming-related.

Authority websites are on a lower level than hubs and they are the places to go when you are looking for some particular, quality and highly targeted information. As a rule of a thumb, authority websites have loads of content that is highly relevant to the chosen topic.

Example of a gaming authority website would be MMORPG, the site that has a somewhat narrower specialization in that it provides all kinds of information regarding MMO games, yet the amount and quality of the information provided is invaluable.

Niche websites are the third and most frequent category where vast majority of sites belong. Niche websites are even more specific than authority sites. They are providing information on much narrowed down subjects. A typical example would be almostgaming dot com website. It is a niche website, which is providing a lot of information, but focused on one specific game only.

Knowing what category your future website will belong to will save you from optimizing for wrong or too broad keyword. Try to define your website accurately with as few words as possible. If you had no adverbs or adjectives, you are running a hub site. If you used one or two to define it, it is an authority website. If it has more than two, than it is a niche website. Select your keywords accordingly.
