SEO Traffic - What Is It and How Can You Get It?

The term SEO traffic refers to visitors that come to your website through the search engines, such as Google, Bing and Yahoo, and others.

If a website ranks highly in the search engines for popular keywords, it will get a lot of visitors that would otherwise not have known about it - that's what's called SEO traffic.

When a website gets more visitors from industry keywords (rather than keywords that relate to the brand or business name), it simply means the website gets increased exposure to prospects and potential clients. And of course there is the possibility of increased sales and therefore new, lifetime customers.

To get more SEO traffic, there are several steps involved. Here is a description of the four main ones:

  • Research
  • On-page optimisation
  • Off-page optimisation
  • Monitoring and testing

Let's look at each of these steps in more detail:

Research
In this phase you need to learn more about your ideal keywords, your prospects and their buying and browsing behaviour, and your competitors. Through research you can find out which keywords your SEO campaign should focus on and which keywords are successful for your competitors.

On-page optimisation
In the on-page optimisation phase you need to take the keywords you discovered during the research phase and optimise your website for it. This means adjusting metadata of your website, title tags, image descriptions and even content and internal links.

Off-page Optimisation
Off-page optimisation is the most commonly known aspect of search engine optimisation - it means building links to your website so that its actual search engine rankings increase. However, for any truly successful SEO campaign, it is important that you also go through the other 3 steps.

Monitoring and Testing
The last and an immensely important phase of SEO is the testing phase. Here you monitor where your actual website ranks for certain keywords, how many more visitors you get, and how many of the new visitors turn into customers. In this phase you can truly recognise the positive return on investment (ROI) that SEO traffic brings. Testing your results, for example the conversion rate or the incoming links, allows you to increase your return for the same effort.

These are the four basic steps to getting more SEO traffic. Of course, the reality is a little more complex and there is a lot of research and development, as well as testing, that goes into a good SEO process.

What Is SEO? Introduction for the Beginner

SEO is short for Search Engine Optimization. As the acronym suggests, SEO is the process of "optimizing" your websites for the use of search engines. What is a search engine? A search engine is an internet site that was made to find information on the internet. Google and Yahoo are two of the most powerful search engines operating today.

SEO will increase the traffic to a website using techniques that will make the website more search engine friendly. It will be easier for algorithms of search engines to find and identify the website as an important source of information by gauging the number of relevant key words and back links located in that website. This is the criteria a search engine uses to identify relevance.

What is key word? A key word is what you type into a search engine to tell it what you want to find. A powerful SEO technique is to find the most popular key words and purposely pepper the website content with the key word to make it easy to find.

While popular key words will drive in the most traffic to your website, you also need slightly more obscure key words that are specific and unique to your website content. If people are looking for your website, or something specific that can only be found in your website using these key words will make a search engine find you. Using more specific but relevant key words also means less competition for you when topping search results. You are targeting a specific kind of visitor, one that is particularly interested in your website content.

Another important part of SEO is making links. What is a link? A link, also called back link, is references to your website from other websites. What a link does for a website is alert search engines that your website content is important because others refer to it. But this alone will not guarantees high ranking with search engines.

You also need the fundamentals, namely good content. What is good content? Good content is relevant information the internet user is looking for. What is meant by good content is that the written material in the website is original, informative and easy to understand for the average reader. You do not want content that in inaccessible to the majority of readers because the writing style is too technical. Take the effort to make original content, not just churned out information that has been repeated many times over by other websites. Good content will encourage other websites to link your website.

Effective SEO techniques will make a lot of money for an ecommerce business. Sometimes it does not even matter what kind or quality of services or products are offered, they still get sold. Because SEO makes them easy to find by ranking these sites highest on search engines, they sell the best. Your regular consumer will not bother to look elsewhere.

Here is a summary of proven SEO technique that you can use.

1. Key words. Look for the best key word that will describe your content and the direction of your market strategy.

2. Content. Plan how you will develop content. Do not go blind writing up anything just to keep fresh. You need a binding theme. And some expertise in an information niche so your visitors have some idea of what to expect and will be back for more.

3. Key word mapping. What is keyword mapping? It is an important factor in content planning for a website. Use a spreadsheet software to map keywords used in every page.
4. Keyword phrase order. This is an extension of key word mapping. You need to match keywords to relate to page contents that a reader will be able to follow. So if a reader has some interest in something else that maybe in the website, they can easily find it.

5. Keyword buying cycle. What is this? If your website sells something, overtime you can evaluate what that buying cycle is. Evaluate your website every once in a while to find these patterns so you can tweak website content to pull in even more business.

6. Key word prominence. Return to that keyword list you had made earlier. From this list, chose the ones you want to highlight. You can only use a select number of key words when you make titles or meta description tags for each page content. So choose wisely.

These are the standard SEO techniques used to bring in website traffic. There are other technique not mentioned in this article, and there are new techniques being invented everyday. So do some internet research or learn by practice to find the best techniques that will work.

The topmost objective for SEO is very simple. SEO wants to top the highest in search results as often as it can. This will bring in website hits in an organic and unforced manner that most buyers prefer. SEO is the very opposite of pay-per-click advertisements seen cluttering the outside columns of websites. The internet has become a very competitive arena for business. More than 75% of companies are vying for your attention online. And all these companies know that getting to the top of results is the key to bringing in target consumers.

Ideally, good SEO can bring a website to rank in the top ten search results of a popular search engine like Google, Yahoo or Bing. Google holds the biggest market with something around 60% of online search use. Keep this in mind when making a SEO strategy for your website. You want Google. Your average consumer will not look further than the first page of an online search engine result. If you do not place near the top, SEO is the very opposite of pay-per-click advertisements seen in the outside columns of websites. The internet has become a very competitive arena for business. More than 75% of companies are vying for your attention online. And all these companies know that getting to the top of search engine results is the key to bringing in target consumers.

Your average consumer will not look further than the first page of an online search engine result. If you do not place near the top, your website might as well be obscure.

SEO can be done by anybody making a website. But SEO is also big business. A large company will readily spend millions to get to the top and stay on the top of search engine results. Each website page is carefully edited to maximum search engine optimization. A SEO specialist will use white-hat SEO methods. We recognize these methods as forum posts and commenting on blogs. Common article marketing is also another method.

SEO is a fast growing industry in itself. The way we find information, the way we buy and sell and do business over the internet is largely influenced by SEO. The future of SEO is secure in the internet.

What Is SEO and How Do You Do It for Free?

When I first started in Internet Marketing I saw the acronym SEO all over the place and I asked myself what is SEO. So I decided to do a search and find out what it was. I found out that SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

A search engine is where people go to find information on the internet like Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. People who have websites want their content to be as close to the number one spot as possible, hence optimization. If their content is in the number one spot their is a much more likely chance that their website will be clicked on. The more clicks they get, the more traffic they get to their website and then more sales, leads or whatever their goal is from that traffic.

What I am going to teach you today are some tips for getting your article to the first page in the search engines SEO, and if you find the right keywords you can get to the first spot. All of these techniques are free to do.

1. Keywords - a keyword is the main subject of what is being searched for or what is in the mind of your customer or prospect. Use the Google keyword tool to help with this. Put a keyword in your title and once per paragraph. Find keywords that are low to medium in competition and high in global monthly searches.

2. Pictures - the search engines love pictures so put a picture in your article. It can be a picture of your or something relevant to your content.

3. Article directories - post your article to 5 or more article directories to get what is called back-links to your site. The search engine love back-links, it makes your site look important.

4. Video - make a short video and post it to you tube about your article and put the link to your article at the bottom this gets your more back-links. Put that video on You Tube. Go to a website called Tube Mogul to blast it out to hundreds of other video sites to get even more back links.

5. Put a link to another page within your site in your article. If you don't have one yet write another article that relates to your current one and link them together.

6. Put a your keyword in your first sentence and your last sentence, and bold your keyword somewhere in your article.

These are all tips that Google likes to see SEO when it crawls around looking for websites to put in rank order. There are more tips for getting to the very first spot SEO that I can teach you later.

What Is SEO - Search Engine Optimization Explained

Search engine optimization is the technique of getting higher placement in the natural search results of Google, Yahoo and MSN. The search engines that matter the most are Google with a 62% marketing share Yahoo with 20% and MSN floating around with about 10% in market share 'that means the search engine you should choose is Google cause Google obviously has the highest percentage of people are searching on the internet.

What you can see on the screen of your PC when you open Google is a display of local search results, organic search results and paid advertising results. Paid advertising has really nothing to do with the organic search results even though they are really the same. Today were just going to be talking about organic "natural" search engine results and how you get higher placement.

The goal here isn't just to get higher placement but to get more traffic to your website. By getting higher positioning for keywords that have the most value to you. You'll see over time by adding fresh content targeting specific keywords that you're trying to get traffic from.

Having higher replacement obviously is the goal if you can get into these top 5 positions you can drive a lot of traffic into your websites assuming you targeting terms that actually drive traffic.

Over time the SEO isn't as fast as overnight and quick fix over time you can expect to get a lot of traffic from the search engine results as long as you nurturing a long-term campaign or search engine optimization. If done right you'll see your traffic increase from Google and Yahoo that's the exiting part imagine one day you getting no traffic and the next day you do a search engine optimization campaign by adding keyword targeted content and doing a few other things ill mention in a minute.

Your traffic will increase naturally without having to pay virtually anything and that's only gone grow as long as you set the right landscape.

What's involved in search engine optimization?

There are 2 pieces...

Content and structure & website visibility.

Search engine visibility which is really about getting mentioned on other websites and about links going to your site. Takes time and shouldn't be done all at once.

Doing it all at once basically raises a flag to the search engines that you're trying to manipulate through search results. Done over time and getting into the right web directories such as Yahoo and open directories project can result in higher placement in the search results.

Press release is also payroll as long as you got mentioning here and hopefully some links. And also getting links from similar related websites can make a huge difference.

An example of how powerful online visibility can be from links alone is Adobe website. Adobe website comes up number 1 for the search term "click here". Which if you read in the Adobe website page you'll see that there's absolutely no reference of the search term "click here". It just doesn't exist...

So why does Adobe website show up number 1?

That's simple.

Google is powered by how many people are linking to the websites that the phrase that people use when this first exposed was "Google booming" and basically having hundreds of websites that are linking to a webpage with a keyword that you targeting and Google eventually figured it out that people were trying manipulate that rhythm and now they're coming up with more synchronizing criteria.

So Adobe is still ranked 1 because there are 100's of 1000's of websites linking to Adobe with the term click here to download Adobe apps. But click here is a link text that actually dries that powerful search engine ranking and as it looks like one billion search results and Adobe has the 1 ranking for that search term.

I'm sure that doesn't have value to their campaign but it shows you how power of links. Get enough links to your webpage and you can have high placement for just about any search term you're going after.

So let's talk about website content and structure...

There are several different things that you can do to optimize your website.

Your search engine optimization team should understand that the core fundamentals of building a website that not only has valid source code but also offers engaging content such as video imagery and so forth and directly links Google to every single page on the website almost instantly so without have to wait for Google to index your website you can actually create in terms of structure and data feeds you can actually create a list for the search engine and say please index this content that doesn't necessarily help you in terms of ranking higher for key words but it does help to get those pages indexed right
away.

The next thing that you can do here to optimize at the site level is to validate to broken links...

So run a program just to make sure that there's nothing broken on the website cause Google's crawling through we want to make sure that they don't hit any bad links otherwise they'll drop of the page and discontinue.

Striping out excessive source code from your website such as java scripts and styles and formats and using what we call table less and cascading style sheet based html code makes a huge difference in not only the low time of your webpage providing a better user experience but also makes the websites more intuitive to Google as its reading through all of the links on the website hopefully were using a static and textual based navigator rather than using images which can't be read as well by the search engines, same thing with flash.

We have to provide links that are made up of real words such as "marketing" or "promotion", again you want to have engaging content such as video cause it has people choose your result in Google search results I choose your listing they want to make sure that their on your webpage and there engaged in your content and if the bounce back Google will record that and recognize that it is not being relevant of a website and perhaps someone with the other search results.

Then there's something called page level SEO...

We don't do SEO only at the homepage, there's several different SEO vocal points that I'm going to care about at rest of website's pages. We are going to care about not being explicit to the search engines...in other words we don't just put the keyword we are targeting in the title.

We are going to put some called action and we are a put some value proposition to compel the person who finds this particular link in Google to be more relevant than the other listings that show up. We are also gone try to use descriptions on each page that include the introduction and that talk about the keyword theme other than just exploiting the page with keywords.

Heading is also an important role in what you're trying to do with your page level optimization for example there's a tag called H1 or hitting tag each heading tag on each page should be unique in other words I don't want every page on my website with H1 part of my overall heading.

Some templates online create a template with H1 that is the exact same for every page your basically telling the search engine that every page on my website has the exact same heading so using new headings on every page will help your search engine optimization person insure that that's one of the criteria that their optimizing for.

Speaking of optimizing for search terms one of the things that your SEO especially should be doing is excessive keyword research...

Understanding the strongest most powerful keywords in terms of people who are actually searching and then creating categories around those search terms and then pages around those keywords that drive the most traffic.

Let's say I have the content tracing sheet about "remodeling". I'm gone have particular client write-up content around each of these keywords "home remodeling" so I'm going to have a page marked "home remodeling" and I'm write unique content. Probably 400-500 words of content with the image.

Next thing is looking at overall website visibility...

So in website visibility what we're talking about is having mention and links from websites that make a difference. Such as the chamber of commerce and just other websites around the internet that relate in one way or another to the website that were trying to get placement for. I'm not going to get a link to homeland assistants from an auto website I'm going to get one from websites that talk about remodeling in the title.

So your internet search engine visibility specialist or link specialist or link building expert their job is to try to get you the best links from websites that have the most relevant to you.

One of the ways that we do that is simply by asking those websites that we find that could be a good place for us to get a link from to please add a link to our site.

We don't do that by creating a reciprocal links or three-way links or any kind of manipulation we simply incentivize them and we say if you're interested because your terms valuable to use well buy you a cup of coffee or send you a gift card.

The search engines don't see that as a pain for influencing links your simply going to go out to websites where it makes the most sense for you to get a link for your websites to get on.

People are busy so by thanking them you buy them coffee or something like that is a way to obviously get a very affordable like to your website from a page that has the most relevantly for you so your link building specialist should be doing this day and night until they've discovered every single link that they need to get only from and try to engage in a conversation with that person who owns the page.

If done correctly SEO will both on the content level by having structured or organized ballet content, keyword optimize web pages having really good internal linking structure for keywords that were searching for.

What Is SEO?

After talking to others within your field or searching the Internet, you've probably come across the term: SEO. This is short, of course, for search engine optimization. You've probably asked yourself, "What is SEO?"

SEO, or search engine optimization, is simply the process of getting your website ranked higher in the search engines through the natural, or unpaid, search results. In other words, not the paid (Pay-Per-Click) results on the outside columns. This is important because the face of the Internet is changing. With over 75% of large and small companies now online, there's an increase in competition and 'market share' for the top search engine positions. Your goal should be having your website placed within the top ten positions in the major search engines, like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Google, of course, currently holds over 60% of all online searches. So, this should be a primary target for your SEO work. Studies show that most consumers will rarely look beyond these top placements when conducting an online search.

Keep in mind, however, SEO is not done by simply creating a website and hosting it online. Many large companies pay large sums of money to make sure their site stays at the top. Although smaller budgets may not allow for this type of dedicated SEO service, it doesn't mean smaller sites can't still earn their rank. Either on your own, or through an SEO professional, make sure your site has quality SEO services-aimed at getting your site placed higher in the search engines. This is essential to the growth of your website and your business.

Most SEO experts will use two methods to get your site placed high in the search engines: on-page and off-page SEO. Typically, on-page SEO involves editing the content of a site to ensure it is properly optimized for the search engines. Another common tactic is link-building. Although off-page methods may vary, link-building is one common element. How your SEO professional decides to build those links will differ. Common white-hat SEO methods will include forum postings, blog commenting, and article marketing.

First introduced in the mid-1990's, the nature of SEO has changed and continues to evolve with the World Wide Web. As SEO improves, so will the user's search experience on the Internet. So, what is the true answer to the "What is SEO" question? Quite simply, it's essential.

SEO has helped millions of site owners get their online business to the top with the help of an SEO company. Find the best SEO company to get started on the same work for your site today.

SEO - What is SEO?

SEO is one of the most effective things you can do online, getting your web site optimized in such a way that the search engines will reward you by basically sending traffic your way. SEO is not really that simple, but the bottom line is, if your page is optimized both on page and off, you generally get higher natural search engine rankings, which leads to traffic for you.

If you've spent time online recently, you've probably read the term "SEO," or "Search Engine Optimization. But what does it mean, exactly? "SEO" is a term that is used to describe the process by which traffic to a particular site is increasingly generated by search engines by way of search results. The quality of visitor traffic to a site can be measured by analyzing how often a visitor who uses a specific keyword phrase in a search actually performs what is known as a "conversion action." That is, how often those visitors make a purchase, download materials, request information, or interact with the site in any other way that indicates interest in the product or service the site offers.

Simply put, SEO is marketing through an understanding of how search algorithms work combined with a knowledge of what human users might search for. The end goal is to create a site that contains words for which people will likely search when looking for information such as that contained on your site.

SEO is an extremely powerful tool online - use SEO wisely!
