Blog Posts and SEO - Things You Should Know

If there isn't any targeted traffic coming to your blog then your writing skills and your blog posts are of little importance. You should be working hard to generate new traffic for your blog on a daily basis so that it can grow in time. The easiest way to do this is to use search engine traffic. That's right; there are millions of people using search engines like Google to dig up information, so why not use them to bring in more visitors?

Another fact you can take advantage of is that search engines love blogs. All you have to do is optimize your blog posts for the search engines. It's simply a matter of taking small steps for large results over time. Given below are a few tips that will help you out in applying proper SEO to your posts.

Search engines value a few elements and give weight to them when they're trying to rank a page. The anchor text you encode your links with is such a component. When you use your primary/secondary keywords in the anchor text in your blog posts, it will give a green signal to the search engines. These should be basically linking your blog's posts and pages to each other. When you include keywords in the anchor text featured in your blog posts you are basically increasing the value and importance of your posts to the search engines.

When you're choosing the keywords for your blog posts, try to go for long tail keywords. This is because long tail keyword phrases have fewer competitors and can get ranked easily. Besides that, you'll also have the advantage of keeping your post specific, so that when someone searches and reaches your blog post, that's exactly what they're looking for. This will make people want to stay and would prompt new readers to become loyal followers.

This will also give you different topics to write about in your blog posts because there would be so many smaller, more tightly targeted subjects to cover.

It's also a good idea to use hyperlinks for your primary keywords and then use a keyword tracker so you can keep track of them. You don't have to do this, but it helps you to fine tune your selection of keywords by tracking them.

If you take the time to implement these tactics, they will help you quite a bit in the long run. In order to rise to the top of your niche, you have to pay attention to all the details when you blog. All in all, from the above article we come to an understanding that every blog deserves to get targeted traffic and there's no better way to do it than focus on the search engines. Search engines are always looking for top notch content that is fresh, no matter how long or short your blog posts that you create are. Give your readers, and the search engine, what they want and they'll reward you with targeted visitors over and over again.

The Basics of Generating Search Engine Traffic to Your Blog

You've created your blog, added some great content and now you want to start generating traffic to your blog. So, how do you get traffic to your new blog? Well, first you need to figure out what kind of traffic you want to generate. Do you want to generate social traffic or do you want to tackle the more advanced search engine traffic (or possibly both). If you want to generate search engine traffic (SEO), you need to start by learning the basics. Learning the basics of SEO isn't difficult; however, it is time consuming. You can, of course, outsource a lot of this but even if you do choose to go that route, it's to your advantage to at least understand the fundamentals.

What drives search engine traffic is entirely different than what drives social traffic. While social traffic is driven by branding, catchy ad copy, personalities, etc., search engine traffic (SEO) is generated by keywords. For SEO, keywords mean EVERYTHING. For social traffic, keywords mean NOTHING.

To start generating search engine traffic, there are 2 basic factors to optimizing your blog (SEO). On-site factors (things you do ON your blog) and off-site factors which are actually more simpler. On-Site Factors include things like your domain name and age, your Blog Title & Meta Description, your blog post keyword density, how you organize your blog and its internal linking, outbound links and your blog's theme and the plug-ins you decide to use also play a part.

The off-site factor is actually more simple and is basically incoming links (incoming links are the "currency" of Google) - the quantity and quality of the incoming links and the anchor text that you use in your blog posts. Don't go too fast with incoming links though. You want your incoming links to appear natural - consistent, yet random. To get inbound links, most people start with social bookmarking, submitting to website and blog directories, article marketing, etc.

So, before you even start, educate yourself on the fundamentals of search engine optimization (SEO) first because this will make it much easier than just getting bits and pieces here and there. Once you learn the basics, you'll be better equipped to implement them and, of course, implementation is key.

I sure hope you found some value from this article today. Don't get overwhelmed, just get started and over time everything will start taking shape. Have fun with it!

How Using RSS Feeds Would Increase Traffic to Your Blog?

When you first start implementing the RSS feed feature on your blog, you may feel that it is not a simple task, maybe even a little complex. Some bloggers find it tricky to figure it out, but rest assured that there are great benefits to be gained when you make it work.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and allows readers of your blog to receive instant notification every time you post new content. Another advantage which most bloggers fail to realize is that it increases the exposure of your blog. So, new readers interested in your topic can find you easily. All readers need to make this whole thing work is a RSS reader.

So, what if you do not have technology-savvy readers reading your blogs? How would you know that your readers will subscribe to your RSS feeds? Are there any consequences when you switch to a new URL or make other changes to your blog? Is there any way to determine who is browsing your blog?

The above questions may come to the mind of bloggers when implementing RSS feeds.

For starters, using Feedburner might be a wiser choice; below are the reasons:

1. Feedburner makes Real Simple Syndication (or RSS) really simple! The set up is easy to understand and the process of doing it is fast and easy.

2. Feedburner makes it more versatile,as well for readers that do not have a feed reader, having an option to subscribe via email.

3. There is a feature in Feedburner known as 'Headline Animator' which allows the broadcast of blog-posts from your Facebook page as well as from other websites which you may have. Feedburner makes it incredibly simple to embed your content on other sites of your choice.

4. Feedburner also gives easy access to information about your subscribers and what they are reading. This information can be used for market research. Also, whenever there is an issue, it can be fixed right away.

5. If you were to switch your blog to a new URL or switch to a new blog software, you do not have to fear losing all your readers!
You could simply change the web address of your blog in my Feedburner account and all your readers will be informed of the switch.
So, your time and efforts spent in building your "fans" would never be gone to waste.

As we have discussed, there are many advantages of setting up an RSS feed on your blog. In summary, Feedburner keeps your blog competitive and offers the features you would need to be an efficient and effective blogger.

You may want to as well consider the following recommendations if you're interested in using programs similar to Feedburner, namely:

1..RapidFeeds

2. Feedity

3. FeedBlitz

Blog Backlinks - How to Improve PageRank With Google For Your Online Business

Getting Google backlinks to your site is more important for your page rank than your outgoing links. You want high ranking sites to link to your page or site for Google SEO to sit up and take notice.

So how do you get them?

First... let's define "Backlinks" or "Incoming links."

Definition: Direct links to your websites through other sites. This is called Off-page SEO, or links from other websites back to yours to gain popularity with search engines.

Getting backlinks from sites that have high readership or ranking, are the sites you want to link to your site or pages.

Here are a few simple methods of how to get backlinks that are high in quality and will help to improve your page rank.

EzineArticles: EzineArticles get thousands of viewers a day visiting their site. They have extremely high Google page rank.

Write an article and have a link that points back to a page on your blog site. When a reader clicks the anchor text in your signature area, it then becomes a quality link coming from EzineArticles. This strategy is excellent for a new blog.

Squidoo: Build a simple Squidoo Lens and have it link to a page on your blog that contains similar information. Squidoo is an authority site that will help you improve your page rank backlinks.

HubPages: HubPages is much like EzineArticles. The incoming links to your blog will be high quality links. Tip: Use only original content in HubPages. You cannot re-purpose content from other sites or sources.

YouTube: Ahhh! One of my favorites! I have 28 videos that point to pages on a blog that I have in another niche. Videos have served me well in sending me high quality backlinks from other sites who have used one of my videos on their site.

Get busy and produce a video that you can point back to your site. Point an anchor text link in your description box back to your blog. When folks click on it, you will get a superior incoming link from YouTube.

10 Effective Ways to Build Blog Backlinks

Do you want to boost your blog in Google?! You can give your blog a huge kick by backlinking with other websites. I know this isn't new news, but so many people forget to build strong and relevant backlinks to their websites. I'd like to give you some important tips, and helpful ideas to give your blog that kick it needs!

Here's 10 tips to build backlinks to your blog:

1. Search Out A BackLink Tool

In order to build backlinks for your blog, you'll need a backlink tool or service that will help you find backlinks. There's lots of great tools out there to cut down the workload of finding backlinks. BackLink Agent is easy to use, you just enter your keywords and select the type of links you want to find - and BackLink Agent does all the work for you!

2. Relevant & Related Websites

Now that you're finding backlinks for your bog, there's two types of backlinks for your blog - and I call them the two R's:

Relevant & Related.

It's very important to only link to relevant or related websites. If your blog is about Water Skiing and you're backlinking with websites that are about Body Building - there isn't a relevant or related connection. Visitors will be turned off because they don't find any relationship between your blog and the website they just came from.

3. Reputable Websites

Reputable - the 3rd 'R' that often gets forgotten. Building backinks to your blog can be all for nothing, if you link to websites that aren't reputable. Let's use a neighbourhood analogy - you have a nice house, you maintain it, paint it, keep you yard clean - it should be worth some nice money. But the neighbours have burned out cars in their front yard... Now the neighbourhood doesn't look so hot. Your website can do the same by linking to websites that aren't reputable.

How do you tell a website is reputable? Ask yourself these questions:

- What's your initial impression of the website? Is it eye catching, or ugly?

- Is the information relevant, well written?

- Would I buy from this website?

- Check the website's Alexa rating (www.alexa.com), under 1 million is alright

4. Directory Sites

If you want to build blog backlinks then getting your blog backlinked in a directory is a hot idea. Directories like www.DMOZ.org for example have a really deep category & subcategory system - so you can get really specific about where you want to build your blog backlink.

5. Add/Submit Url Sites

As mentioned before, BackLink Agent has a tool to help you find websites that accept url submissions. So what you would do is search with one of your keyword phrases, like 'jet boat water skiing' and see what websites are available. Now you can submit your url to them and create a backlink for your blog.

6. Related Forums

Forums can be an amazing means for building blog backlinks. What you do is use BackLink Agent to search out related forums. I recommend adding your blog url as a backlink in your forum signature. Then every post you make has a backlink to your blog. A good forum post can send 100s of visitors to your blog in a week, or even a day!

7. Competition Spy

A little bit of competition can be a good thing - but the Internet can provide 1000s of competitive websites with a few keystrokes. What if you were able to see the backlinks that your competition have for their websites?

BackLink Agent has a way cool tool to sniff out competition backlinks. All you do is enter your competition's url (with http://) in the search field and pick 'Competition Spy' and see all the links that the website is linked to. The Internet is one big backlink, so it's a great way to find more backlinks for your blog.

8. Give Your Article Or Lens An Added Boost

If you've written a article and want to get it indexed faster by Google or ranked higher - backlinking your blog to your new article will help it out! Just write a teaser article, under 300 words and add a few links to the new article in your blog post.

9. Page Rank 7 Or Higher

I go by the Rule of 7 - Google page rank of 7 or higher is a great site to backlink your blog to. Less than 7, it's alright but still do #3 on it.

10. Ping Your Backlinks

Once you've sniffed out backlinks for your blog with BackLink Agent, ping your articles or blog posts (or blog RSS feed). Just do a Google search for 'blog ping service' there's lots out there.

So there you have it! Now you're educated and you can go find backlinks for your blog, website or landing pages. Backlinks are the lifeblood of promoting your website. Building backlinks can be so easy, and benefit your blog!

Try BackLink Agent for Free Build backlinks to your blogs or landing page and boost your placement in Google! BackLink Agent can help you find 100s of related & relevant backlinks. Rob lives in British Columbia Canada and has run an IT company since 1994.
