How Can I Get A Higher Rank On The Search Engine Result Pages?

Getting a higher rank in the search engine result pages is indispensable for every business across the globe. The task seems much complicated seeing the immense competition, but execution can be made simpler by working on the basics. Let us first understand how the search engines work in order to determine what one needs to do to synchronize the website in line to the search engine rules. Understanding the search engine algorithm will give us an idea behind how the search engine ranks a particular website.

Search Engines in layman's terms are like puzzle solvers! Some of the most genius minds on this planet have tried to work out algorithms to analyze the query put froth by users and provide the best suited answer the query. Therefore the search terms that we enter into the search engine are basically questions which the search engine finds answers to. It is fascinating to learn how this extremely complex software has made our lives so simple in the world today. Every search engine maintains a huge database of web pages with the help of an automated software called search bots or crawlers. These crawlers scan websites on the internet and send the information retrieved to the search engine data center where in layman's terms the website is saved! Whenever a particular user enters a search phrase (also called a key phrase), for example web development company India, the search engine processes that query with its database of pages and finds the most relevant page containing those key phrases.

Doesn't it look a little too simple?

Tip to Note: Google has 5 data centers across the world and is said to have indexed more than 8 billion pages! Yet it delivers the results to any user query within a fraction of a second.

Let us consider the search engine perspective as well and give them some commendation! The search engines not only have to find the answers to the queries, but also have to find out the most relevant ones from the huge list of similar looking pages. Therefore the automated software not only have to analyze the webpages but also have to rank them in a way so as to place the best find on top of others. The task looks simple there is an extremely complex algorithm that works behind to rank web pages.

Often one would have noticed that any organic search engine optimization process takes from 12 - 16 weeks to show results. Now this is the base time that any search engine has kept for itself to analyze and scan the website as per its guidelines. You may be wondering that does it take that long to scan the website?? The answer is no! But search engines analyze a website continuously over this period to determine its position on the SERP's (search engine result pages). A search engine like Google can take up to 6 months to give your website a page rank, and about 4 months to decide your website's position on the search engine result pages.

Let us focus on Google users:

There may be some users who would say that: we have got a page rank within a month of uploading a brand new website! Or we have got no page rank but have got a first page position on the SERP's!

The occurrence of such cases is rare but in past many have experienced such instances. This was called a "Google sandbox effect"! This generally occurs to a relatively new domain and is a Google exercise to determine whether or not one has used any negative technique for optimization (black hat techniques). Also some users wish to achieve immediate success after the launch of their website. In such impatience, they try to get in as many back links, content etc for their website to get a jump start. However they forget that Google would analyze them over a period of 12 - 16 weeks minimum and then give them a permanent rank! (of course those already existing as leaders deserve some fair ranking!!) Therefore Google puts these websites under a scanner (scrutiny) in order to make sure that no illegal methods of getting a higher ranks are used. This scrutiny region is called a sandbox. Now one would ask why have I got an immediate rank? For this one has to understand that this is not a permanent rank, but is basically an illusion one has created for the search engine algorithm which is bound to give you a rank for the work done by you. However, the algorithm is designed in a way that if it is forced to give you a rank so soon, it would put you under a scanner! (It is like saying that if you earn a lot of money very fast, the income tax department has got an eye for you!) The details of the sand box effect would be discussed in later articles, however what is important to note is that one must not try to get a rank overnight!

Coming back to the key question- how can I get a higher rank on the search engines?

The first step of course is the set froth directions for the search engine algorithm. If the directions are there, then the search engines would have no problems in co-relating your webpage to the search query entered by any user on the globe. Let us have a look at some of these directions:

1. Keywords in Meta Tags, Title Tags, Anchor text, Alt Texts: These are some of the areas where any webmaster can set directions for the search engines to follow. Here one can put in some keywords he/she wants to get the website optimized for. But do remember not to over exaggerate on the keywords or you are bound to be penalized.

2. Keyword Rich Content in the text: Writing a content based on the inverted triangle rule is very important if you have to optimize your website for these search engines. The search engine crawlers scan websites from top to bottom and from left to right, therefore one has to design the content in such a way so as to make an inverted triangle of the keywords in the text.

3. Well structured website: Internal linking of the website is indispensable for complete indexing of the website. It is like setting up road paths for the smooth indexing by the crawler.

4. Say no to spam: Spamming of text, links etc can kill your rankings, so beware of not to copy.

5. arrange for links from external websites, web-directories, social bookmarking websites etc. These links should have keyword rich anchor texts in them and should be form credible websites (i.e. non spammed websites). However do not try to get in all the links at once. Best is a slow & continuous approach which leaves search engine software under no suspicion.

Search Engine Optimization is a very useful method to gain popularity or increase business, however it is essential to take in some expert help to avoid any kind of penalization to your virtual office online by the search engines.

How Organic SEO Helps Search Engine Ranking

In organic SEO strategy, the question that matters most to businesses is, "Will our target market (in this case, the browsers and internet surfers) find us?" This in turn raises the question of how visible a company or business web site is in the top page rankings. Stated plainly, it is how they are placed in search engine rankings. This top page ranking is doable and achievable through the use of organic SEO (or search engine optimization).

The moment internet users search for something on their favorite browsers, Google, Yahoo or Bing will look for the web pages that will match the topic-and this is where the use of organic SEO methods kick in. The most appropriate and fitting pages in the view of the engine bots will come out first, and those particular web pages will be ranked first. Considering that there are possibly more than a million pages to look into, the it has to go through a step by step process which is known as the algorithm. Each algorithm works in a unique way, but there are rules that govern its use and which is generally adhered to in organic SEO methods.

One of the organic SEO methods used in rankings is about the location and frequency of keywords that can be found on a web page. For this, a top SEO company would utilise an effective tool in its SEO packages: keyword analysis and selection. The right keywords would be generated and embedded in a website content. After using the right organic SEO techniques in optimising a web page, including the web design, it is up to the search engines to do the rest.

Experts in organic SEO would tell their clients that the first thing the engine bots will do is look for the pages containing the keyword, and these pages are considered more relevant than the others. At the same time the engine bots will also look if the keywords that are found at or near the top of a web page. In the same manner, the search engine will consider how often the keywords are mentioned relative to other words. Again, it is assumed that a specific web page that contain many targeted keywords are more relevant that the others. This is where the use of organic SEO boosts a business website's chance of ranking high.

At this point, all three engines, Google, Yahoo and Bing, almost function the same but sometimes the results differ in varying degrees, even with the use of the same organic SEO methods. Some will catalog more pages or with more frequency that others. The end products eventually show different numbers and combinations even with the use of proper organic SEO techniques. A word of caution, engine bots are also configured to disregard or ignore abnormal appearances of keywords on a page.

Lately, the major seo methods are also using the "off the page" ranking measure. This forensic SEO ranking technique, one of the many tools of organic SEO, works through analysis and evaluation of the manner the pages are linked together. The aim is to find out what the pages is all about, and to decide what pages "count" or "matter". The "off the page" feature also monitors the selection results of searches and rearranges the rankings accordingly.

It is important that businesses that want to have a strong online presence should choose the best SEO company. A top SEO company that utilises Organic SEO to meet the needs of its clients is worth its fee, as well as the trust of loyal and satisfied customers.

Keyword Competition Analysis And Why Some Keywords Ranked Better Than The Others

Keywords are a huge part of any online business content plan. And if you have an online business, then you know that content is king. Always has been, always will be. So how do you deliver content that people want to read while still targeting the right keywords in the most effective manner? And how do you know what the right keywords are? The answers to these questions can lead to a successful career online, but only if you know how to utilize them to your advantage. As you prepare your content for web delivery, make sure that you pay more than close attention to the keyword details. Some articles do better than others because they know how often to use the words they have chosen, and how to format their articles for success with the search engines.

The first thing that you need to do as you start your online engine is select keywords that are popular but not as competitive. There is so much competition for what people call "the million dollar words" that a lot of quality keyword entries that are searched thousands of times per month go ignored by online content providers. It is up to you to research your field thoroughly and to find the best use possible of the words in question. Once you have selected your keywords and long tails, then you need to think about how they will appear in the body of your content.

With a well structured article, you should be able to work these keyword usages in to a proper ratio of approximately one use per 75 to 100 words. After you have ensured that all the keywords selected are presented in an adequate manner, the next move that you should make is to proof your article for any unnecessary repetitions. Too often, article writers are guilty of the dreaded stuffing practice in which content becomes about how many times they can fit a word usage in rather than how useful the information itself is to the reader.

Proofreading your article is perhaps the best way to ensure that you do not get ignored by the major search engines. Some practices of stuffing can even qualify you for a blacklist, in which all the major engines will collectively ignore your content. When this happens, it becomes impossible to generate organic traffic that you need to survive. Whatever you do, don't be like those sites that fail every day.

Engage in proper keyword competition analysis, and you will always remain separate and apart from the sites that fail. While online content is often free, it can be very valuable in the right hands. Present value above all else and you will always succeed.

Discover How High PR Backlinks Can Boost Your Rankings

Backlinks contribute to the major share of the success of your website. That is why people are constantly in search for such high PR links. These links will effectively improve your search engine rankings. However, there are significant difference between good backlinks and bad backlinks. A good backlink can be identified by its endurance. The longer a backlink exist, the more valuable it is. A link that exists more than a year is more valuable than a link that exists for one month and will provide more PR value.

An analysis of Google algorithm will show that a website that provides irrelevant backlinks will be ignored by Google. Also, if a particular backlink is found to violate search engine regulations, then that too can be a cause for low backlink value. Backlinks having less PR value are also useless. Such backlinks will not be crawled by Google. Hence, high quality backlinks are what you need for your website.

But how do you get High PR Backlinks?

In order to get high PR backlinks you must first of all know what high quality backlinks are constituted of. Strong backlinks can be obtained from websites with page rank value of 4 to 7. There are several standard networks through which people can get high quality backlinks. If your site is linked with that particular website, then you can easily receive strong backlinks. This will significantly increase your website rankings.

The first major step is therefore finding the PR of the particular website. Today, it is not at all difficult to find the PR of a website. Numerous websites are out there which will give you access to SEO tools. These tools will help you with graphical representation of the website page ranking. Any website with a PR above 4 can be considered as a top ranking website. You can select a particular link building package from these websites and effectively improve your search engine rankings.

Providing appropriate tags is one way of getting quality backlinks from a high PR website. Also analyze social networking sites and try to get your site into one of these. However, submitting your website to a social networking site can be a pretty difficult process. Providing relevant tags is one method by which you can get attention from these sites. No matter what you do, never receive outdated backlink services from link exchanges or reciprocal links. These are pretty outdated and search engines do not promote such services anymore.

Rank High On Google: How To Increase Google Ranking

Welcome back, I'm George Tiganus and today I will tell you some things about how to rank your website higher on the first page of Google search results. Ranking high with the search engines is what brings the traffic to your website, and if your website shows up in the first results for the keywords people are searching for, this is good for business!

Traffic means money!

So let's go ahead and briefly talk about the SEO concept. SEO is the acronym for Search Engine Optimization, and that's what gets you the high ranks on Google and other search engines. This kind of optimization depends on various aspects, and we will discuss some of them, so that you can understand what they mean and how you can make them work for you.

If I were asked which is the most important factor to improve your Google Rankings, I would definitely say BACKLINKING.

But what exactly is backlinking?

First up, think about some restless machines always scrutinizing the information on every website in existence.

This is exactly what the search engines are designed to do. They look at the content of websites and rank them by relevance of that content to the website's keywords. But there's much more than just the information you have on your website's pages. For every subject you can imagine, including the one your website is about, there could be thousands or millions of other sites.

One other sign that a website relevant to the subject it deals with is if it's referenced externally via links. Out of two sites on the same topic, the one that is referenced through more links over the internet will be considered more helpful for the users looking for info on that topic.

These are called, incoming links, inbound links or backlinks and they refer people from other sites to yours. The more quality your website has, the more backlinks you are supposed to get.

Google thinks of a link coming from some other website to your website as a vote and this is why backlinking plays a huge role on the way Google sets their rankings.

Think about Wikipedia and how they always show up within the first results for almost any search. Why do you think that is? 75,000,000 domain backlinks!!! (I know it is insane, but it's TRUE!)

So now you know the importance of backlinks, but it is more important to know HOW to get them for your own website.

There are several ways to do that and the most common are:

- reciprocal links - links between two websites to ensure mutual traffic
- forum links - using signature links on forums
- commenting on blogs - go to high ranked blogs and add a link to your comment
- links from other pages, such as video sharing websites, article directories etc.

Naturally, the more such backlinks your site has,the higher it will be ranked on search engines. But pay attention, this doesn't mean you should buy some automatic tool and just get 1000 backlinks per day. Bulding up backlinks at an unnaturally high rate or speed is suspect and Google has a very low tolerance of spam, going to such lengths as penalizing or even banning websites!

Top Factors for Attaining High Search Engine Ranking

Pay attention to the information I would provide here; they are based on my several years of experience in providing search engine ranking services. There are lots of wrong pieces of information regarding SEO. Do you know that all it takes to rank higher is not far from your reach?

I have offered SEO and ranking services and advice to both big and small businesses. During these years, I've come to discover something essential; the sites that rank high usually share some common traits.

The anchor texts of the inbound links to your site

Using the anchor text from sites that link to your site, Google as well as other search engines are able to ascertain the theme of your site and determine what is best for your website in terms of ranking. Therefore, check that other sites are linking to you with both the keywords in your anchor text and URL - email them to this effect and ask them to update your link. Place your high priority keywords in the link.

Keywords featured in your title and meta tags

Meta tags have not stopped being part of the influencing factors to your rankings. Although they are no longer very weighty, meta tags work very well when it comes to placing your page in the right category. Meta tags also help to identify what search engines are likely to look out for in the course of spidering the pages. Ensure that your keywords are featured on your tags, and that the tags are well constructed.

What about the diversity of domains linking to your site?

A lot of search engines are not just concerned about how many sites link to your site, but on their diversities as well. This is the way to judge how popular your site is; this technique is quite helpful when it comes to enhancing your ranking.

Link popularity

Link popularity can be likened to Page Rank; the topic had been a subject of discussion in search engine forums for a while. There are several factors at work to assess the quality of webpages from external sources. The more popular and recognized the pages are, the more value their links add to your website.

Also, the root domain is one of the ranking factors. No doubts, you can employ dedicated pages or sub-domain to generate keywords in your URL; however, the best bait is still to have them in your root domain.

Finally, you have to continually be on the lookout for better ways of carrying out SEO campaigns to get the best result.

How to Achieve High Search Engine Rankings Through SEO

First off what is SEO? SEO stands for search engine optimization, which is the process of getting search engine traffic to your website using organic search results. The higher your site is ranked in the search results, the more free traffic the search engines will send you.

o In order to get high quality leads to your website or blog, you must have the right keyword phrases, also called long tail keywords. You want to optimize your site for these words to draw your target market in. You don't want to optimize for the search engines only.

o Make sure you design your website around your keywords. Do not make the mistake of building a beautiful website and then trying to decide what keyword phrases you should use. Once you have your keyword phrases, then you are ready to start writing copy for your site. Make sure to use your keyword phrases often throughout your copy.

o Only purchase a new domain when you have to. The longer a domain name has been around, the more the search engines are going to like you. By changing your domain name it could take weeks and often a couple of months to build your traffic back up from the organic search results. This obviously does not apply to new websites.

o Remember that search engine spiders can't read drop down menus or interpret graphics. You still want to use these, but make sure they are able to find all your pages on your site.

o Use your top keyword phrase in your title tag. What you put in as the title tag is the link between your site and the search engines. Be sure that that your title tag is relevant to the content on that page.

o It is very important for search engine optimization that other sites back link to your site. The search engines like to see that your site is popular. Just as importantly, you have to be careful of who is linking to your site. If it is a spammer it then could hurt your search engine ranking.

By following these couple of points, you should be well on your way to driving an increase in high quality leads to your site. I would tend to measure how I am doing by watching the increased sales, traffic and conversions and spend less time looking for what your ranking is for certain keywords. All of these steps taken together will go a long way in helping you with your search engine optimization and search engine ranking.

Things Which Hurt SEO Ranking

We're midway through Rankings Week. Today I'm going to switch things up and address 7 things which you are likely doing RIGHT NOW which are hurting your rankings and chances of ranking without your even knowing it.

Too Many Reciprocal Links - It's alright to have a couple dozen reciprocal links when you're just starting out, but if you go overboard then this will look like a black hat SEO tactic which makes it seem like you're just linking to positively affect your ranking (gasp).

Link Farms - This is in the same vein, but when I say link farms I really mean it to be a catch all for bad links which are pointing towards your website.

Duplicate Content - Google doesn't link duplicate content on your site. If you have very similar content which has to exist in two places on your site for your visitors for whatever reason, make sure you notify the search robots of this so that they will

Canonical Issues - If you have multiple linked to versions of the same home page for example, this can be a problem. The best thing to do is to make sure that you choose one URL and stick with it whenever linking back to your site. If you forget this and accidentally link to two or more different URL structures for your main page, it may direct to the same place, but you're spreading out your link juice.

Plus, search engines need to choose one canonical URL to associate with your site.

Ultimately the best thing you can do as I mentioned is to choose one URL to stick to, but if you have other URLs which exist or you've linked to in the past, the best thing to do in that case is to make a 301 redirect on these URLs to point to the URL you want to use, thus focusing all of that link juice to where it should go and showing Google which is your main URL.

Flash Sites - Using flash makes it difficult for search engines to properly crawl your site. If you use a flash intro this can have disastrous effects on your SEO efforts and ranking. I know flash intros look cool, but having traffic is cooler.

Lack of Content - If your page is primarily made of images, it won't rank well because search engines need text content to identify what your site is about. Without that content, they won't know what to do with your page. Part of this means using your keywords effectively and having keywords to begin with.

Broken Links - Broken links can cause problems whether they're on your own site or on someone else's site pointing to yours. Obviously if you were receiving powerful link juice from another possibly high PR web page and it suddenly disappears, you're going to feel the effects of that link (depending on the strength of it).

Now that I've covered what hurts ranking, let's look at the first day of my week long series of posts on improving rank. Day one focuses on writing copy for SEO and you can check it out by clicking on the link in this paragraph.
