Knowing SEO Basics for Your Website

This optimizing of the website is brought about by utilizing articles and web content enriched with meta tags and relating keywords in the composition of the webpage. Knowing SEO basics help you create web content ranks high in the search engine results.

Optimization of the website is imperative to give it a high rating in popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. Most internet consumers don't look past the first or the second page of the search results. Without SEO basics incorporated, your website is not search engine friendly and ends up receiving a poor rank. This in turns hinders your target consumers from viewing your website. SEO is crucial for online businesses and e-commerce.

A keyword or a keyword phrase is the main term(s) that describes your website. A website promoting tourism will include keywords like "holidaymakers", "exotic destinations", "holidays", etc. Keywords are basically synonyms for the website. When internet consumers feed in the term "exotic destination", the search engine will direct them to that particular website along with other similar websites. The keyword is one of the most important SEO basics. The keyword density is the number of times the related keywords are used in the website's content. The higher the density, the more the website is search engine optimized. However, websites with a very high density of keywords are considered by search engine as spam, and are rejected.

SEO basics include page rankings, which are computed through algorithms. A page rank, a term coined by Google, is a method to determine the popularity of a website based on its exposure and appeal. The execution of algorithms ascertains the number of links that lead to a website and the amount of related content it includes. A number from 1 to 10 is then assigned, with 10 being the highest level of rank and 1 being the lowest. A higher page rank gives a website a better chance of emerging at the top of the search engine results. However, a page rank cannot be purchased since it uses algorithms to calculate and not a person sitting behind a super computer giving high ratings to certain websites. Ratings are earned in due course by using relevant keywords and internet links.

Back-links are another way to rate higher. Back-links are websites that connect directly to your website. In SEO basics, having more back-links enhances your chances of having a higher rank. This proves that your website is of high quality since many other websites want to connect to yours. Establishing back-links doesn't happen overnight. When linking with another website, it's best to do so with a website that is relevant with your content instead. This is for partnership and not competition. Take permission from the owners of the other sites back back-linking.

SEO Basics information offered by specialized firms can be confusing. There are some experts, who give wrong information and some of them develop or promote the use of unreliable search engine optimization tools. Thanks a lot.

The more relevant your website is, the more chances it has to get a higher PR. If visitors don't find your site welcoming or informative, clicking the close button is easy. Don't waste the opportunity. Every click matters. :)
